JACKY-BOY MAKES A DEAL WITH THE DEVIL!
TL;DR: Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) and Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman)—lifelong enemies for 40+ years—are joining forces on Y&R to take down Cane Ashby (Billy Flynn). WHAT IS HAPPENING?! We’re breaking down why these rivals are suddenly allies, whether they can actually trust each other (spoiler: they can’t), and if this unholy alliance can stop Cane’s corporate takeover. Plus: How long until they betray each other?
The Alliance Nobody Saw Coming
On October 1, 2025, the impossible happened: Victor and Jack officially agreed to work together. Michael Baldwin (Christian LeBlanc) watched in shock as Jack walked into Victor Newman’s office and explained that “a common enemy has taken precedence over their rivalry.”
That common enemy? Cane Ashby, the mysterious billionaire who returned to Genoa City with an AI-powered plan to take control of the town’s legacy companies—including Newman Enterprises and Jabot. Cane’s schemes have gotten so dangerous that Victor and Jack are willing to put aside decades of hatred to stop him.
Let that sink in. Victor and Jack have been enemies since before most viewers were born. They’ve destroyed each other’s businesses, stolen each other’s women, and made each other’s lives miserable for FORTY YEARS. But Cane is apparently such a massive threat that hell has literally frozen over.
Why The Great Victor Newman Agreed (With Major Reservations)
Victor didn’t exactly jump at the chance to work with Jack. He made it clear he doesn’t trust Jack… or Michael, for that matter. Victor being Victor, he’s holding his cards close to his vest, playing his own game while pretending to be a team player.
According to spoilers, Victor told himself he plans to bring down BOTH Cane AND Jack in one fell swoop. Because of course he does. Victor Newman doesn’t do genuine partnerships—he does strategic manipulation where he comes out on top and everyone else gets crushed.
Jack knows this, by the way. He’s not naive enough to think Victor has suddenly become trustworthy. But Jack also knows that stopping Cane requires Victor’s resources, connections, and ruthless tactics. Sometimes you need to dance with the devil to defeat a bigger monster.
Jack’s Secret Weapon: Jill Abbott
Jack came to this alliance with a plan: convince Jill Abbott (Jess Walton) to turn against Cane. She’s been treating Cane like a surrogate son—the successful businessman Billy (Jason Thompson) could never be. But Jack knows Jill’s returning to Genoa City, and he’s betting he can make her see Cane’s true colors.
Here’s Jack’s angle: Chance Chancellor died on Cane’s property in France. That tragedy already has Jill questioning Cane’s judgment. If Jack can prove Cane is dangerous, Jill will flip on him faster than you can say “Chancellor Industries.”
Michael worried that isolating Cane might make him more dangerous, but Victor countered with surprising insight: “That’s when he will screw up and become vulnerable.” Even Jack had to admit Victor’s strategy made sense. The Mustache might be insufferable, but he’s not stupid.
Michael’s Playing Both Sides (And It’s Getting Messy)
Michael Baldwin is stuck in the middle of this mess as a double agent. He was working with Cane, but after Cane fired him for not being enough of a “yes man,” Michael went crawling back to Victor.
Lauren (Tracey Bregman) is FURIOUS about this. She thought she finally got Michael away from Victor’s toxic influence, and now he’s right back in the middle of corporate warfare. Lauren even asked Nikki (Melody Thomas Scott) to intervene, which could put Nikki in an impossible position between her husband and her friend.
Michael insists he’s doing the right thing—Cane is threatening people they love, and someone has to stop him. But playing double agent with Victor Newman rarely ends well for anyone.
How Long Until This Y&R Alliance Implodes?
Let’s be real: Victor and Jack’s partnership has an expiration date, and it’s probably measured in weeks, not months. Neither man trusts the other. Both are planning their own endgames. And the second Cane is neutralized, they’ll turn on each other like scorpions in a bottle.
Victor is already keeping secrets from Jack, playing his cards close to his vest. Jack knows Victor well enough to expect betrayal. The question isn’t IF this alliance will explode—it’s WHEN, and how much collateral damage there will be.
Our prediction? They’ll successfully take down Cane, but the aftermath will create an even BIGGER war between the Newmans and Abbotts. Victor will try some double-cross that backfires spectacularly. Jack will retaliate. And Genoa City will be caught in the crossfire. Again.
Why This Storyline Is So Satisfying
After watching Victor and Jack fight for decades, seeing them forced to work together is DELICIOUS. The dialogue is sharp, the tension is palpable, and watching them navigate this temporary truce while clearly planning to stab each other in the back is peak soap opera.
Eric Braeden and Peter Bergman have incredible chemistry—whether they’re enemies or reluctant allies. They elevate every scene they’re in, and giving them material where they have to cooperate despite their mutual loathing is writing gold.
Plus, Cane makes a great common enemy. Billy Flynn is killing it as the smooth-talking villain with mysterious plans and dangerous resources. He’s formidable enough to justify this unprecedented alliance, which makes the stakes feel real.
The Bottom Line
Victor Newman and Jack Abbott are working together, and it’s exactly as volatile, suspicious, and entertaining as you’d expect. Neither trusts the other, both are planning their own moves, and this alliance will inevitably explode in everyone’s faces.
But until then? We’re enjoying every minute of watching these two titans pretend to play nice while clearly scheming against each other. Cane Ashby picked the wrong town to mess with—but he might just succeed in creating chaos before going down.
The Young and the Restless airs weekdays on CBS and streams on Paramount+. Tune in to watch this unholy alliance unfold!
