Y&R Spoilers: Kyle Abbott’s Desperate LA Stalking Mission Will DESTROY His Future With Claire Newman

By Andrew Thomas 10/07/2025

KYLE ABBOTT’S DESPERATE LA PURSUIT: THE MOST TONE-DEAF MOVE IN Y&R HISTORY

TL;DR: After Claire Newman explicitly dumps Kyle Abbott and tells him she needs space to figure herself out, the desperate Abbott heir decides to follow her to Los Angeles anyway. Kyle’s boundary-crossing pursuit is about to destroy any microscopic chance he had at reconciliation with Claire, and spoilers confirm it’s going to be a spectacular disaster.

Look, I’ve been watching The Young and the Restless for years, and I’ve seen some jaw-droppingly bad decisions. But Kyle Abbott’s latest move?

This takes the cake.

After Claire Newman broke up with him on September 29 and explicitly—explicitly—told him she needs to be on her own and make her own mistakes, what does Kyle do? Books a flight to LA to “win her back.” Because apparently “no” and “I need space” translate to “please follow me across the country and insert yourself into my fresh start” in Kyle-speak.

The audacity is BREATHTAKING.

What Happened Between Kyle Abbott and Claire Newman?

Kyle Abbott systematically destroyed his relationship with Claire Newman through a combination of betrayal, terrible timing, and an almost impressive inability to listen. In France, Kyle kissed Audra Charles as part of some business scheme with Victor Newman—because nothing says “I love you” like making out with your ex for corporate espionage, right? Claire was understandably devastated, but instead of giving her time to process the betrayal, Kyle decided the solution was to propose marriage on August 29.

Yes. You read that right.

His girlfriend is reeling from his kiss with another woman, and Kyle’s big plan is to drop to one knee at the Abbott mansion and expect her to swoon. Claire’s reaction—a stunned “What are you doing?!”—should have been his first clue that he’d catastrophically misread the situation. But Kyle Abbott doesn’t do self-reflection. He does grand gestures and doubles down on bad decisions.

Fast forward to late September. Holden Novak offers Claire a chance to get away to Los Angeles for a while—a trip centered on experience, freedom, and self-discovery. Everything Kyle’s proposal wasn’t. And Claire, who’s spent years under the manipulative control of her psychotic aunt Jordan Howard and is just now learning to trust her own instincts, makes a choice for herself. She breaks up with Kyle on September 29, explicitly stating she needs to be on her own.

Kyle immediately frames this as her choosing Holden over him.

Missing. The. Entire. Point.

Why Is Kyle Abbott Following Claire Newman to Los Angeles?

Here’s where it gets truly painful to watch. On October 6, Kyle had a brutal public confrontation with Audra Charles, who systematically eviscerated him for his failures, his ego, and his terrible decisions. Wounded and humiliated, unable to handle rejection from both Claire and Audra, Kyle makes the worst possible decision: he announces he’s going to LA to find Claire.

Not because she asked him to come. Not because she gave him any indication she wants to see him. But because his wounded ego cannot accept that he’s not the protagonist of her story anymore.

This isn’t romance, folks. This is a man who fundamentally cannot respect boundaries because he views women as prizes to be won rather than autonomous human beings with their own needs and desires. Kyle genuinely believes showing up uninvited in LA is a romantic gesture when it’s actually the behavior that made Claire realize she had to leave him in the first place!

The dramatic irony? Chef’s kiss. Every controlling move he’s about to make in LA will only prove Claire was right to dump him.

Does Kyle Abbott Have Any Chance of Winning Claire Newman Back?

No.

Not even a little bit.

Want to know why? Because Kyle’s entire LA strategy is based on a fundamental misunderstanding of the problem. He thinks the problem is Holden Novak. He’s convinced that if he can just “expose” Holden’s shady past (and spoilers confirm Holden does have history with Audra Charles that will come to light), Claire will realize her mistake and run back into his arms.

But here’s what Kyle doesn’t get: Holden isn’t the problem. Kyle is the problem.

Claire’s trip to LA isn’t about choosing between two men. It’s about choosing herself for the first time in her life. After years of being controlled, manipulated, and told who to be by Jordan Howard, Claire is finally learning to trust her own instincts and make her own choices. She needs space to figure out who she is outside of anyone else’s expectations.

And Kyle’s response to that deeply personal need? Show up uninvited and try to control the narrative. Again.

Even if Kyle successfully digs up every scandalous detail about Holden’s past and presents it to Claire on a silver platter, it won’t matter. Because the act of him following her to LA when she explicitly asked for space is proof that he learned absolutely nothing from their breakup. He’s demonstrating in real-time that he cannot prioritize her needs over his ego.

The more he tries to “win,” the more definitively he loses.

What’s Next for Kyle Abbott and Claire Newman in Los Angeles?

Buckle up, because Executive Producer Josh Griffith has confirmed this LA arc is a “dedicated storyline”—meaning we’re not talking about a quick two-episode resolution. This is going to be drawn out, messy, and oh-so-dramatic.

The LA storyline will introduce several new characters, including club owner Sienna Bacall (played by the fantastic Tamara Braun) and a mystery character portrayed by soap legend Roger Howarth. Plus, Noah Newman (now played by Lucas Adams) is returning to open a new club in the city, which will likely serve as ground zero for all the drama.

Could this mean Kyle will confront Claire and Holden at Noah’s club? Don’t be surprised if we get a very public, very explosive scene where Kyle loses his temper and makes a complete fool of himself. Given Kyle’s history of letting his emotions override his common sense, a dramatic confrontation in front of a crowd seems almost inevitable.

Will Holden’s past with Audra complicate things? Absolutely. Spoilers indicate Holden was deeply involved with Audra Charles during their time in LA, and he hasn’t been entirely forthcoming with Claire about the extent of their history. Kyle will almost certainly use this information as ammunition, positioning himself as the “good guy” trying to protect Claire from another dishonest man. The lack of self-awareness will be staggering.

Is there any chance Kyle will recognize he’s the problem? This likely leads to Kyle having several wake-up calls that he’ll promptly ignore. Every time someone tries to tell him he’s making things worse, he’ll double down. Because that’s what Kyle Abbott does.

The real question isn’t whether Kyle will fail to win Claire back—that’s a given. The question is how spectacularly he’ll fail and how much damage he’ll do to any microscopic chance of future reconciliation in the process.

Some fans are hoping for a karmic moment where Kyle walks in on Claire and Holden in an intimate situation, forcing him to face the consequences of his own betrayals. Would it be petty? Absolutely. Would it be satisfying? You bet.

Look, Claire Newman spent years being controlled and manipulated. She’s finally free, finally learning to trust herself, finally making her own choices based on her own instincts. And Kyle Abbott showing up uninvited to “rescue” her from her own decisions is the ultimate proof that he doesn’t see her as an equal partner—he sees her as someone who needs to be managed.

This LA trip isn’t going to mend their relationship. It’s going to permanently cement in Claire’s mind exactly why it had to end.

And honestly? She deserves so much better than someone who can’t respect a simple request for space.
