Tracker spoilers and updates reveal Season Three’s comings and goings; who’s in, who’s out, and who’s back? Let’s dive in and see what and who’s changing in the cast and what viewers can expect for the new season of the hit CBS drama!
Justin Hartley Speaks To What’s Coming Up On The Show
Justin Hartley will return as Colter Shaw, the lead of the show. Regarding the upcoming third season, he shared with Variety, “We have a lot to explore in Season 3, but I love how Season 2 wrapped up some long-standing storylines for good reason.”
On the show’s success, he remarked, “We have a studio and network that truly believed in us, providing all the tools and opportunities, including the post-Super Bowl premiere.
After that, it’s about proving ourselves-you get a big audience after the Super Bowl, but you need a great show to keep them coming back-people are busy! We aim to create fresh, compelling stories and place this character in intense, believable situations.”
Fiona Rene Returns As Reenie Greene
Fiona Rene reprises her role as Reenie Greene in the second season, and she will return as a series regular for the third season. Elwood Reid, the executive producer of the show, shared with TV Line that she will be back, stating, “I believe Reenie is a fascinating character. She’s resilient, yet we witnessed her being deeply affected a few times this year, and Fiona is eager to develop her character further. At the start of the season, we’ll find her questioning her actions and perhaps attempting to establish some safety nets for herself. We plan to expand that world in Season 3 significantly, so there will be some exciting developments for her.”
Randy’s Returning, Played By Chris Lee
Elwood Reid, the executive producer of the show, informed TV Line that Randy (Chris Lee) will be making a comeback.
When questioned about the return of both Randy and Bobby Exley (Eric Graise), Elwood responded, “I don’t have the full plan, but I can confirm that Chris will be back. He adds a lot to the show; he’s a good friend of mine, so I naturally have a fondness for him, right?
Plus, I understand how to write for him- I know his voice well; this understanding contributes to shaping what Reenie’s world will look like.
However, it’s important to note that this show is quite unusual, as there are episodes where, if you recall, the team is completely absent.
Wendy Crewson And Jensen Ackles Return As Mary And Russell Shaw
Elwood Reid, the executive producer, informed TV Line that Mary will return, stating, “Yes, I believe she’ll have some presence; the real question is, why did she deceive Colter-what does that mean?
If you watched the finale — especially that last scene — you can feel all that emotion; in that moment, Colter realizes his mother may have lied about his whole childhood.
Jensen Ackles came back in season 2, episode 2 as Colter’s older brother Russell; he also appeared in the season 3 premiere on October 18!
Russell Shaw, Colter’s older brother, is a clever, resourceful man with a mysterious background-once suspected of their father’s murder, he now works in private security. Although he’s distant and secretive, Russell sometimes assists Colter, showing a deep loyalty despite family issues.
Sofia Pernas Returns As Billie Matalon, Maybe Alex Fernandez As Otto
Sofia Pernas reprises her role as Billie Matalon in season two and will also be back for season three! “She’ll be back-we have an exciting midseason finale, and Billie returns in the winter premiere,” EP Elwood Reid told Us Weekly. Fun fact: Sofia is married to star Justin Hartley!
Elwood Reid informed TV Insider that season three may reveal Colter’s mom’s link to Otto, hinting at his return; he said, “There is some history there, which we’ll reveal in Season 3 about her personal relationship with him. Colter grew up to help others, and Otto may have been that person for his mother, but the reasons will be a bigger question we’ll explore in Season 3.”
Not Returning: Eric Graise, Abby McEnany, Robin Weigert
Eric Graise was missing for parts of season two, leading fans to speculate that he might be phased out; now, TVLine has confirmed that Eric will not return as Bobby.
Abby McEnany reprised her role as Velma Bruin in season 2, but her character was absent for several episodes during the second season.
This raised concerns among fans that she might also be written off… and it has now been confirmed; according to TVLine, Velma will not appear in the third season.
Robin Weigert left the series after playing Teddi Bruin in season one, and likely, she will stay out of the series for season three and beyond after leaving before the second season began.
Unsure Status: Floriana Lima And Melissa Roxburgh
Floriana Lima joined the cast as Camille Picket in season two; her status for season three is uncertain-Camille is Gina Picket’s (uncast) sister whose disappearance deeply impacted her and Colter.
They share a complex romantic past, intertwined with their grief; ultimately, Camille opts for closure, moving on from both the case and Colter, rather than remaining in emotional limbo.
Melissa Roxburgh reprised her role as Colter’s younger sister, Dory Shaw, in a season 2 guest spot; it’s still unknown if she will return for season three.
Dory, a physics professor, has tried to overcome their family’s troubled past but remains connected to Colter through shared trauma.
Although they can be distant, she provides support when necessary, showcasing her intelligence, strength, and emotional depth as their relationship gradually mends.
