The Young and the Restless spoilers note that Holden Novak (Nathan Owens) finally came clean to Claire Newman (Hayley Erin) about the “crime” he and Audra Charles (Zuleyka Silver) committed in Los Angeles, all those years ago.
During the Wednesday, November 5 episode, Holden told quite the tale, but to a skilled fan who’s been following this storyline closely, there were a ton of holes in the story. He’s lying for sure, but is it because he committed murder and not theft, or is there another reason?
Holden’s Story
The Young and the Restless spoilers for the November 5 show state that Holden told Claire that Audra was a regular in The Shadow Room. She went by “Audra Cortez” at the time.
She showed up with a man one night, who was prominent in L.A.’s art community (Mike Faltrow), and they were celebrating a collaboration.
The art man got a little too drunk and started pushing himself on Audra. Being the stand-up guy, that Holden was, he intervened, only for Audra to slip out of the bar with the man’s wallet.
Audra showed up the next day at the bar, frantic, as the art guy sent his goons out for her when he noticed his wallet was missing. She lied to them and asked Holden to take the wallet, so when he came back to the bar, he could tell the man that it was found in the bathroom.
Holden asked if Audra had taken anything from the wallet, and she denied it. When the man showed up at the bar, Holden handed him back the wallet, and it turned out that a cashier’s cheque for $500,000 was missing.
Audra skipped town, everything blew over, and she eventually sent Holden $100,000 for his “help”, which he took, because he needed the money. Still, he pointed out that this makes him an accessory to her crime.
Murder – Not Theft
One major hole in Holden’s story is that he knew Audra as a regular at The Shadow Room, and he fluffed off their association. That should’ve been a major red flag for Claire. After all, while Claire didn’t realize it, Holden was very obsessed with getting Audra back when he first came to GC.
He was mesmerized by her in many ways and really pushed for them to “pick up where they left off”, all because of their “secret”. They were definitely closer than he’s letting on to Claire. Plus, even Sienna Bacall (Tamara Braun) mentioned him, “hanging out with that Audrey girl”.
Another red flag was the fact that he didn’t reveal the art guy’s name. Sure, Holden noted it was to protect himself and Audra, but why would he be afraid for Claire to look him up?
It’s not that far-fetched to believe that a similar scenario occurred, only slightly different. Sure, the art guy could’ve gotten drunk and may have tried to get handsy with Audra. But in her attempt to protect herself, could she have murdered the man?
Maybe Holden stepped in, and he killed him, by accident, trying to defend Audra, as they were clearly either friends with benefits or more than just “buddies”?
The two may have still found that cashier’s check, but hidden the body, and tried to move on with their lives – only to find each other again in GC?
