When The View returned for its 29th season in September, it should’ve been a moment of celebration. But instead of cheers, the show’s comeback stirred an undercurrent of anxiety among its loyal audience.
Rumors of cancellation have once again started to swirl, with fans warning that drastic changes might be needed if the daytime talk show hopes to make it to its milestone 30th season.
At the center of the online chatter is one co-host — and viewers aren’t holding back.
“Sit This One Out”: The Latest Controversy
Anyone familiar with The View knows that no topic is off-limits — unless, apparently, it involves Jimmy Kimmel.
Fans were left baffled when the panel stayed unusually quiet about Kimmel’s suspension earlier this year after he made controversial remarks about the murder of right-wing podcaster Charlie Kirk.
Many viewers accused the hosts of avoiding the issue to “protect their own jobs,” only addressing it days later once Kimmel was reinstated.
Since then, the show has returned to its usual rhythm — tackling hot-button issues with bold opinions. But one recent debate over military fitness standards sparked fresh backlash.
When Secretary of War Pete Hegseth announced upcoming changes to physical requirements for service members, The View’s commentary on the topic drew attention from Fox News host Tomi Lahren, who didn’t mince words.
Lahren fired back on social media, advising the women of The View to “sit that one out” and “leave it to the professionals.”
Fans Turn on Sara Haines
While disagreements and strong opinions are nothing new for the daytime panel, some fans have taken their frustrations further — zeroing in on Sara Haines, who first joined the show in 2016 before leaving briefly to co-host GMA and returning in 2020.
Haines identifies as an Independent with left-leaning views, but her attempts to play the middle ground have increasingly rubbed some viewers the wrong way. On social media, one fan described her perspective as “dangerous.”
“Demanding niceness for the sake of looking or feeling ‘good’ is harmful. Hope she does the internal work to clarify her position, because her stance is becoming dangerous,” they wrote.
Others piled on:
“She’s the kind of person that will tell a kid to just be friendlier to their bully.”
“I think she’s terribly out of touch and quite frankly I usually just ignore her now.”
“I used to align with her a lot too, but lately she’s been super tone deaf.”
“Im just not certain where she landed and I’m not sure she is either most days.”
“She came across as nasty and performative. She should just say what she feels and drop the ‘I’m in the middle, I’m a sweet Mid-Westerner,’ it’s not tracking.”
Born and raised in Newton, Iowa, Haines often leans on her Midwestern charm — but some fans believe it’s become part of the problem rather than a strength.
What’s Next for The View?
ABC has yet to confirm whether any co-host changes are planned ahead of Season 30. Still, with growing chatter about ratings, fan dissatisfaction, and polarizing personalities, the show’s future feels less certain than ever.
After nearly three decades of sparking debates across the nation, The View may need to look inward — before its own viewers decide to tune out.
