It took Mae forever to realize that her love for Jay was enough to break the infamous Mimi Curse. Though to be fair, the curse did put up a great fight before it eventually conceded. It even sent a tornado to their town. It took Jay’s reassurances for her to see that their love was special. She wasn’t Mimi in their story and neither was he. It’s why Mae waited so long to meet the right person much less get engaged. She wanted to be sure. She’s sure now and she was finally ready to get married. She just didn’t have a venue anymore because of the same tornado that was mentioned earlier.

The venue was a wreck. Some of the items could have been saved if the tornado siren had gone off earlier. Nancy did her best and it was still the Mayor’s pride that costed Merinac so much. The Mayor had a heart attack. His office had no clue what to do without him there because they weren’t trained. They were only told to wait in the back while the Mayor did everything necessary. The Mayor liked the attention of being the hero. It normally wasn’t an issue and it didn’t become one until now.

Many would have died if Nancy hadn’t sounded the alarm herself. The lack of tornado preparedness on top of the rest of the issues has left quite a few people that think Mayor Merinac shouldn’t be Mayor anymore. Maybe Nancy should run! Her son will surprisingly vote for her. Frank Jr was backing to be Junior. He was also a lot nicer now. He hugs people. He tells them that he was glad they were alright after the storm. He told his mother he loves her before he borrowed her car. He needed to check on the Cluckery.

They were in such a great place that Nancy didn’t ruin it by telling her son about his boss. The Cluckery franchise was bankrupt. The only store doing well was Frank Jr’s. He reverted back to his family’s century old recipe and now his boss wants that recipe. He could use it to save the whole chain. Or he’ll probably sell it. The truth was hard to determine with Mr. Chicken. Frank Jr. finally wised up to his shenanigans. He went over their contract and he saw many concerning things. He realized for himself that his mother had been right about his boss. The guy was no good.

The first thing he asked after the tornado wasn’t about Frank Jr’s health. He wanted the recipe. Frank Jr then decided to give him a fake one. He came up with a completely fake recipe on the spot. He used it to get out of his contract with Mr. Chicken who didn’t even see it coming. His ex-wife also got out of an ugly situation. Amanda was about to sell her doodles to make a book. She met a nice lady who would act as her agent and unfortunately that same woman worked for a jerk of a publisher. The jerk’s name is Henry Flanagan.

Henry spoke down to Amanda. He told her that her doodles would appeal to the average mom. As if a mother could ever be average. He was a jerk about those same women and said they were plain janes with nothing going on in their lives. He kept going even as Amanda was telling her doodles was about her life. Her family. The people she loves. Amanda could see he would never respect her and so she told him off. She didn’t care if it cost her a book deal. She told him that he lost that deal the moment he disrespected her.

Amanda didn’t care about becoming famous. Or taking someone’s crap to become so. He showed her daughter that they are deserving of respect and that they should never settle for anything less. It was a great life lesson. Frankie had been really proud of her mom. Frankie didn’t mind that her mom was finally pursuing Sergio either. The town had made a bet after they watched the couple’s episodes. They bet on when they’d get together and Frankie got the date right. She won a thousand dollars. She offered to split it with her mother. Her mom told her to keep it for subway fare for when she goes to school in NYC.

Mae also had to break the bad news. The old Mimi’s was gone. It had been destroyed by the tornado. Gus saw it and she broke down in tears. They had a little funeral for the old place. Most of the stuff there was broken down anyways. The one thing it didn’t destroy was a box of Gus’s keepsakes. Gus kept everything precious from when Mae was a baby. She also kept her favorite dress that she used to wear with Clayton. She put the dress in the box after he left town and she never wore it again. Nor could she throw it away. It reminded her of a happier time.

Mae decided to use her mom’s old dress as her wedding gown. She left that part as a surprise for when she walked down the aisle. The wedding was still going ahead after all. It was even happening on the same date as before because Jay’s parents were already flying in. Sabrina freaked out when she saw the venue and then she got to work with some help from a certain gorgeous handyman. Frank Jr. also helped. He built a new altar. He likes building things and he ignored it because he had thought he should go into the family business. And now he was finding his passion again.

The new altar was perfect for Mae’s new wedding dress. Gus got to see it first because she walked her down the aisle. Clayton was a passing distraction. Mae told her mom that it should’ve always been her to walk her down the aisle. Not that Gus stayed sentimental for long. She warned her Mae not to get cake on the dress. Even if she openly admits it looked better on Mae than it ever did on her. Gus was still Gus! The wedding went ahead and it had been beautiful. Sabrina brought everything together.

Amanda also learned that a book series she loves was actually created by Shawna. Shawna was very much multi-talented. She has fingers in everything. She self-published and she wanted to help Amanda do the same. Amanda will get to publish her doodles after all. She didn’t need that publisher. Amanda spoke with Frank Jr at the wedding reception. He apologized to her. He told her that he didn’t like himself for a long time and he took it out on her rather than deal with it. He told her he was sorry. He then handed her the divorce papers that he signed.

Their marriage was over and he was ready to accept it.

Amanda was going to be starting a new chapter with Sergio. The guy she happily made out with at the wedding. It wasn’t long before Frankie was off to New York. Gus and Nancy took a vacation out of town. They were off while the Chicken Sisters took off. It was known as the best fried chicken. And so tourists were coming in from out of town just to try their chicken.

Frank Jr. had also wanted to cut down the tree limbs with his mom out of town. He sadly didn’t bring anyone to support the ladder and so he fell from a very great height. His fate remains unknown until next season!
