Michelle Ryan’s long-awaited return as Zoe has already stirred up emotional chaos.
But the tension exploded when a stray bullet tore through Albert Square during a heated showdown – leaving viewers desperate to know who’s been hit.
And just when you thought the drama couldn’t get any thicker, a second iconic face made a jaw-dropping comeback.
Tonight’s episode revealed that Zoe was the victim of an accidental shooting after a fight broke out between Jack Branning (Scott Maslen) and Ravi Gulati (Aaron Thiara).
As Zoe fights for her life in the hospital, Kat (Jessie Wallace) fears that Zoe is running from someone who is determined to harm her.
When Zoe’s phone rang, Kat picked up, wanting answers.
It was revealed that Max Branning (Jake Wood) is the person who has been calling Zoe.
However, Max didn’t say a thing, leaving Kat unaware he was on the phone, as she fears for her daughter’s safety.
But why is Max calling Zoe?
Max’s return is sure to send shockwaves through the Square and Branning family.
EastEnders viewers in disbelief as ‘soap’s most iconic reunion’ sees Kat and Zoe Slater come face-to-face after 20 years
EastEnders viewers watched Kat reunite with her missing daughter Zoe – 20 years after she left for a new life in Spain.
Even though Kat begged her to stay, Zoe didn’t want to drag her new brothers into her mess of a life – but will her life-threatening injury change things?
Executive Producer Ben Wadey teased: “As Zoe makes her dramatic return to Walford, more than one secret in her past will come to light as we look to explore the reasons behind her return, and what has happened in the past 20 years to make her the person she is today.”
Oscar Branning (Pierre Moullier) has also moved back onto the Square – and has already caused so much drama.
After his sister Lauren Branning (Jacqueline Jossa) took him in, Oscar stole a van, robbed Patrick Trueman (Rudolph Walker) and stole a gun.
Can Max help his son stay out of trouble?
Or will they join forces and become the ultimate double act, causing chaos for the Walford residents?
EastEnders continues Thursday on BBC iPlayer at 6am and BBC One at 7:30pm.
