Ozzy Osbourne started filming his swansong before he passed away in July this year. A docuseries by the BBC was pulled at the last minute, but fans of Black Sabbath can still watch the Paramount Plus story called Ozzy: No Escape from Now. Read on to find out more and see the trailer.
The Singer Knew He Was Dying
Ahead of the docuseries on BBC and the Paramount Plus film, Ozzy Osbourne knew he was in a bad way. And he probably filmed as a way for his millions of fans to remember him. He already announced his retirement in a quiet area in the UK, and hoped to just chill and raise some animals.
However, the rock star also knew he wasn’t well. Actually, some health updates made fans fear for Ozzy. In the new show, his family talked about how he fell and never seemed to recover from that very well.
The trailer that dropped on Thursday this week also showed a bit of the other side of Ozzy. Ahead of the docuseries on the Paramount Plus film, Ozzy Osbourne seemed to anticipate that the last days lay head of him. And he probably filmed as a way for his millions of fans to remember him.
As for the retirement and enjoying a quiet life, unfortunately, he never got to enjoy that, but he maintained a sense of humor. Ozzy Osbourne quipped, “I used to take pills for fun, but now I take them just to stay alive.”
Wanting To Say Goodbye
The motivation for the new show seemed to be a need to farewell his many fans. Sharon Osbourne said that he regretted not being able to say “goodbye to his fans.” However, he did manage to squeeze in a final concert. During it, his daughter, Kelly, announced her engagement.
All in all, the trailer showed that Ozzy Osbourne had some great times, like nice cars and luxury jets. Despite failing health, he remained fairly optimistic about passing away. He said, “If my life is coming to an end, I really can’t complain. I’ve had a great life.”
Serious Injuries
Fans knew that Ozzy struggled with his health and he was diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease in 2020. However, it seems that his spinal injury after a 2019 fall did the most damage. In the preview, Kelly Osbourne explained how he fell, saying, “It was in the middle of the night…he had broken his f***ing neck.”
The footage revealed some scenes of the rock star in the hospital getting x-rays and treatment. He survived, but as Kelly noted, “He comes out of surgery and he’s far worse.” However, the fact that he could still make his music seemed the best part of later life.
Fans React To The Trailer
Many people who saw the trailer felt a bit emotional about it. One of them wrote, “I admit I got emotional watching this preview. I remember my first concert watching him and Randy Rhoads on stage and it blew me away. So sad he has left us, but his music will live on forever and his legacy is unmatched…”
