It’s Personal For Special Agent Alden Parker
This time, it’s personal for Special Agent Alden Parker (Gary Cole) because a mobster has targeted his family; s history about to repeat itself? Sound familiar?- the team leader’s family is killed, and he seeks revenge by killing the murderer-Leroy Jethro Gibbs (Mark Harmon) wasn’t the leader when his family was killed, but it’s close enough.
At the end of last season, Special Agent Alden Parker (Gary Cole) discovered his father Roman Parker (Francis X. McCarthy) shot dead in their home.
Parker believes his long-time enemy, mob boss Carla Marino (Rebecca De Mornay), is responsible because she holds him accountable for her son’s death. Her son’s motorcycle accident happened right after Parker informed him about Carla’s illegal activities.
NCIS Has Been The Place To Be For Over Two Decades
For more than twenty years, NCIS has been a steady and entertaining part of CBS’s primetime schedule, especially when the story becomes personal for the agents.
In Season 23, as the drama intensifies, we will see flashbacks of Parker during his teenage years as he goes off the rails. “He was a troubled kid — in juvenile homes, constantly in trouble, getting arrested, breaking the rules.
And not caring about anyone in his way when he wanted to get from point A to point B,” explains executive producer Steven D. Binder; now, “he is angry.”
Flashbacks to 1977 will feature a younger Parker (Harrrison Leahy) along with his father (Mark Lawson as a young Roman Parker) and sister (Alexa Nisenson as a young Harriet Parker).
Delving Into The Past May Explain Some Things
The relationship between Parker and his adult sister [Nancy Travis] is set to change back to how it was when they were younger. Alden Parker is a skilled former FBI agent and now an NCIS agent who appears to have his life together,” Binder explains, referencing his troubled youth.
“His sister was the responsible one; he created many issues for himself, their family, and their father, which he now regrets.”
“ If you’re part of the family, his actions led to their dad’s death.” “ Bringing that childhood dynamic into the present with a brother and sister will definitely create tension.”
Parker’s Team Will Face A Dilemma Trying To Help Him
Parker’s team will face a dilemma and encounter challenges in trying to help him. That includes agents Timothy McGee (Sean Murray), Nick Torres (Wilmer Valderrama), Jessica Knight (Katrina Law), forensic scientist Kasie Hines (Diona Reasonover), and chief medical examiner Dr. Jimmy Palmer (Brian Dietzen).
“The team is specifically instructed to ensure he doesn’t go anywhere or do anything,” says the EP-will they adhere to those instructions or support Parker in his quest? Sneak peek photos tease the latter, with Torres and Knight meeting a man who might have details about Roman’s murder.
“You’ll appreciate the answer,” Binder assures; Palmer also needs to decide when to inform Parker about what he discovered in his mother’s original death certificate.
Director Leon Vance Helped His Agents Similarly In The Past
In the past, Director Leon Vance (Rocky Carroll) has assisted his agents in similar situations; however, this time is different. “We’ve often portrayed Director Vance telling his team they need to return to the box, then he goes, wink, wink, nudge, nudge”.
Then leaves the file on his desk while he exits the office so they can check something they require- that’s not happening this time,” warns Binder.
There are “mysterious reasons” for his return to being “very by the book;” the resulting tension between Parker and Vance will continue to impact them even after the episodes that resolve this storyline.
“We believe this storyline is approaching its end, and we will speed that up,” says Binder — the others will have their own story arcs aligned with Season 23’s theme, “NCIS on fire.”
