Meghan Markle is in full lifestyle influencer mode right now and she’s got the facts to prove it. During her latest – surprise! – appearance at her college pal Courtney Adamo’s book launch event at Godmother’s Bookstore in nearby Summerland, the Duchess shared some of her home secrets in Montecito with Prince Harry and their young children, Archie and Lilibet.
This appears to be in line with the theme of the day, which is actually inspired by the name of the book, “The Family Home: Inspiring Ideas for a Home Filled with Joy.”

At this year’s Fortune’s Most Powerful Women Summit, Meghan talked about finding her perfect work-life balance.
During her segment, she touched on what it’s like to juggle two young children whilst building a sustainable business.
This time around, she’s decided to give us a more intimate look on what her life is like at Montecito.
“First thing I do when I wake up in the morning is turn the music on in the house,” Meghan says of how she gets herself, Harry and the kids to get into the mood to start their day.
As for her travel rituals, you might not have thought of this one, but you’d certainly find it interesting. “I always travel with a candle. I am so conscious and sensitive to fragrance, and I associate that with home,” she reveals.
Her trick to attending to her children whenever they’re sick? She brings out a “healing blanket,” which, believe it or not, has a pretty interesting story of its own. See, it was a gift from former QVC cosmetics mogul Victoria Jackson, who is a co-owner of Godmother’s Bookstore.
Continuing on, she discussed how she gets her children to open up about their day in creative ways. For example, she says she employs the “rose and thorn” technique to get them to give her answers that are more detailed than a simple yes and no.
“Our daughter, she’s four and she’s a very strong personality and she’s incredible,” Markle gushed. “And now she’s in this moment where I say, ‘What’s your rose and your thorn?’ And she goes, ‘My day was just a blast.’”
She’s since been ridiculed for this unorthodox approach to parenting, with some calling her insights “insufferable” and “ridiculous.”
“She’s just weird. Her ideas are weird. No one does this,” a fan blasted.
