Jerry Bruckheimer Shuts Down Rumors — Margot Robbie Still Attached To Disney’s ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’Once upon a time, we heard that Margot Robbie will be starring in an all-new female-led ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ movie. However, after years of crickets, fans began to despair that Disney may not be bringing this beautiful idea to fruition after all.

Well, it may not be exactly as we first pictured it, but let’s just say that a certain Barbie is still on her way to becoming a pirate. If you know, you know.

Jerry Bruckheimer Says Margot Robbie’s ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ Script Still In Development

‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ producer Jerry Bruckheimer is here with some good news for us loyal scallywags of the multi-million dollar Disney franchise.

Last we heard from him, he told us that the studio was working hard on getting Johnny Depp to return to the starring role of Captain Jack Sparrow. In fact, he said that the only hitch rests on the script.

If it’s good enough, we’ll have our old rum-loving courageous, and yet sometimes cowardly, captain return. If it’s not, well, Margot Robbie will make one heck of a pirate.

“We’re working on a script. It’s always on the page; if we don’t have it on the page, it’s not gonna get on the screen,” Bruckheimer told The Wrap, adding, “We had two scripts at one point, and then one kinda dropped out, and then we kinda went on with the other one.”

Okay, at this stage it’s completely right for anyone to wonder which of the scripts got the boot. Thankfully, it’s not the one featuring Robbie, or rather the one still in production still features Margot. “Well, she’s still involved,” Bruckheimer replied.

In addition to this, Bruckheimer shared that the writer involved in the first four films, ‘The Curse of the Black Pearl’ (2003), ‘Dead Man’s Chest’ (2006), ‘At World’s End’ (2007) and ‘On Stranger Tides’ (2011), is currently involved in writing the new script.

In 2022, Robbie revealed that Disney had shelved the ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ movie that was meant to feature her.

“We had an idea and we were developing it for a while, ages ago, to have more of a female-led — not totally female-led, but just a different kind of story — which we thought would’ve been really cool,” Robbie said at the time. “But I guess they don’t want to do it.”
