Let’s refresh everyone’s memory about Joy Wesley (AlexAnn Hopkins) and her DRAMATIC exit from Salem!
Joy and Alex Kiriakis (Robert Scott Wilson) had a brief but passionate relationship that started after a drunken one-night stand with Johnny DiMera (Carson Boatman)—yes, THAT happened—and eventually evolved into something real. But then Stephanie Johnson (Abigail Klein) decided she still had feelings for Alex, and everything went sideways!
Alex chose Stephanie over Joy, and they parted amicably. Joy even got a job at Titan Industries to stay connected to the Kiriakis family. Everything seemed FINE…
Until Joy realized she was LATE.
She panicked, took a pregnancy test at University Hospital with Sarah Kiriakis’ (Linsey Godfrey) help, and discovered she was PREGNANT with Alex’s baby! Stephanie overheard Sarah talking about the test and confronted Joy Wesley, who admitted the baby was Alex’s and gave Stephanie permission to tell him.
So what did Joy do when Alex and Stephanie were waiting for the results?
SHE LIED!
Joy looked them BOTH in the eye and said the test was NEGATIVE, which was a complete and total fabrication! Then she quit Titan, packed her bags, and high-tailed it back to New York to live with her mom Nancy Wesley (Patrika Darbo)!

2. The Kiriakis Family Needs New Blood!
With Victor Kiriakis gone, the family dynasty needs the next generation! This baby is a KIRIAKIS HEIR! Xander Cook (Paul Telfer) and Sarah have Victoria. But Alex’s child would be another branch of the family tree, and the Kiriakis clan would ABSOLUTELY want to be involved!
3. The Drama Would Be EPIC!
Can you IMAGINE the fallout when Alex discovers Joy lied about the pregnancy test and disappeared to raise his child without him?! The betrayal! The anger! The hurt! And what about Stephanie? How will SHE react to finding out her boyfriend has a secret baby mama in New York?!

If Joy left in March and it’s now November, she would be HEAVILY pregnant or possibly have already given birth! Either way, the timeline is PERFECT for a dramatic return! Imagine Joy showing up in Salem with a newborn baby that looks JUST like Alex! Or showing up nine months pregnant and going into labor in Town Square! ICONIC!
How Joy’s Return Could Play Out on Days of our Lives
So how SHOULD Days of Our Lives bring Joy back? Here are some deliciously dramatic options:
Option 1: Medical Emergency Brings Her Back
Joy Wesley or the baby could have a medical crisis that forces her to return to Salem for specialized treatment. Alex discovers the truth in the WORST possible way—at the hospital when he sees Joy with a baby bump or holding their newborn!
Option 2: Chloe Discovers The Secret
Chloe visits Nancy in New York, meets Joy’s baby, does the math, and DRAGS her little sister back to Salem to face the music! Chloe would be FURIOUS that Joy kept this from Alex!
Option 3: Joy Shows Up At A Kiriakis Family Event
Imagine: There’s a Kiriakis family gathering. Alex and Stephanie are there, happy and in love. And then Joy walks in with a BABY in her arms. The entire room goes SILENT. Alex looks at the baby. Looks at Joy. And realizes…
THAT’S his child!
Option 4: Nancy Calls Alex
Nancy could take matters into her own hands and contact Alex directly, telling him he has a child. Alex and Stephanie would fly to New York, and the confrontation would happen OFF-screen before Joy reluctantly returns to Salem!
