General Hospital (GH) fans are a little saddened this week, even though we all knew it was coming. Jason Morgan (Steve Burton) went to talk to his beloved mother, Monica Quartermaine (Leslie Charleson), only to realize she had passed on.
As viewers know, Erika Slezak is slated to appear on the ABC soap soon, as a mystery character that’s linked to Monica.
Recently, fellow GHer, Nancy Lee Grahn (Alexis Davis) shared a photo on social media of her and Slezak behind the scenes, with a nice story to add.
Nancy Lee Grahn’s Facebook Post
In a Facebook post, Grahn shared a photo of her and Slezak in ‘selfie mode’, seemingly on the Quartermaine set. Will Alexis represent Slezak’s character in some sort of lawsuit against the Quartermaine family?
In addition, Grahn shared a heartfelt story about Slezak and her time on One Life to Live (OLTL). Grahn notes in the caption that her first TV job was on OLTL, and as she was finishing school, she worked as a recurring character (Beverly Wilkes).
She states, “I had grown up watching OLTL with my mom and sister, so to be working with Judith Light, Gerald Anthony, and Erika Slezak was surreal and thrilling.”
While she was a non-contract player for four years, and free to work elsewhere, Grahn did give the show 7 days’ notice when she was being considered for a role on NBC’s ‘The Gangster Chronicles’.
Grahn notes in the post as she was not under contract, she was required to give the soap seven days’ notice.
Erika Slezak For The Save
The caption adds, “The producer Joe Stuart, sued me for leaving even though I had every right to leave. I was very young and intimidated by this threat and went to Erika for advice. Erika, without being asked to, went directly into her boss’s office and told him in no uncertain terms that what he was doing was unconscionable, mean, and unwarranted.”
Grahn goes on to say that Erika got in the middle of the lawsuit and stood up for her because she believed what the producer was doing was wrong.
Grahn states in the caption, “That’s the kind of woman Erika is. In addition to that, she’s an outstanding, consummate well awarded actress who was a mentor to me as I watched her and learned up close how to be truthful and effective in this medium.”
Grahn notes that to “meet up” with Slezak again, after decades (Slezak played Victoria Lord on OLTL), “… still beautiful and elegant as always, was a true joy.”
For anyone who questioned Grahn’s case with OLTL back in the day, she adds that her case was settled in arbitration, and she won.
