General Hospital TWISTED Theory! What if Drew Cain LIES and Says Michael SHOT Him—To Save Willow and FRAME His Enemy?

By Paul Rodriguez 10/28/2025

THE MOST UNBELIEVABLE TESTIMONY IN PORT CHARLES HISTORY IS COMING!

TL;DR: Drew Cain (Cameron Mathison) got shot twice in the back on General Hospital, which means he never saw who pulled the trigger. But that’s not stopping him from planning to lie and claim Michael Corinthos (Rory Gibson) was the shooter. Is Drew actually trying to protect Willow Tait (Katelyn MacMullen) by taking the heat off her? Or is he just using this shooting as the perfect opportunity to destroy his biggest enemy once and for all? Spoiler alert: It’s definitely the latter.

Drew Cain: Shot But Not Silenced

On September 2, 2025, someone walked into Drew Cain’s house and shot him twice in the back at close range. He was standing there holding a drink, admiring the engagement ring he’d offered Willow, when BAM—two bullets to the spine. Drew never saw the shooter. He couldn’t have seen the shooter. You can’t see someone who’s shooting you IN THE BACK unless you have eyes in the back of your head, which last we checked, Drew does not.

But here’s the thing about Drew: Facts have never stopped him before, and they’re certainly not going to stop him now.

According to General Hospital spoilers, Drew is planning to tell the Port Charles Police Department that Michael Corinthos is the one who shot him. Even though he was shot in the back. Even though he has absolutely zero evidence. Even though his own lawyer, Martin Gray (Michael E. Knight), literally warned him that accusing Michael without proof would be perjury.

But will that stop Congressman Crooked? Absolutely not.

The Theory: Drew’s Twisted Logic

Drew’s theory actually makes a twisted kind of sense—which is probably why it’s so dangerous. He believes Michael orchestrated the entire shooting as part of an elaborate scheme to accomplish two goals at once:

Goal #1: Frame Drew for bribing Judge Heran. When the police searched Drew’s house after the shooting, they conveniently found evidence of a wire transfer linking Drew to the judge who ruled in his favor during the custody trial. This makes Drew look guilty of judicial corruption and helps clear Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard), who was being investigated for the judge’s murder.

Goal #2: Get rid of Drew permanently. If the bullets had been a few inches to the left, Drew would be dead instead of just paralyzed-adjacent. (The man came dangerously close to losing the use of his legs, but miraculously recovered because this is a soap opera and nobody stays paralyzed unless the actor is leaving the show.)

It’s actually a clever theory. Too bad it’s coming from someone whose credibility is currently at an all-time low.

Is Drew Protecting Willow or Destroying Michael?

Here’s where things get complicated. Drew claims he wants to protect Willow, who is currently the prime suspect in his shooting. The police found Edward Quartermaine’s gun—the murder weapon—hidden in Elizabeth Baldwin’s (Rebecca Herbst) house, where Willow has been living since her failed wedding to Drew.

Anna Devane (Finola Hughes) arrested Willow right in front of her children, who hadn’t seen their mother in months. It was brutal. It was devastating. And according to spoilers, Drew can’t sit back and let the woman he supposedly loves go to prison for a crime she may or may not have committed.

So his solution? Claim he suddenly “remembers” that Michael was the shooter.

But here’s the problem: Drew has made it VERY clear—multiple times—that he wants Michael destroyed. He’s been plotting revenge against Michael for weeks. He even worked with Jenz Sidwell (Carlo Rota), a literal crime lord, to frame Michael for various crimes.

So the question becomes: Is Drew genuinely trying to save Willow? Or is he just using her situation as the perfect cover story to finally take down Michael?

Spoiler alert: It’s definitely the second one.

The Problem With Drew’s Plan

There are several glaring issues with Drew’s plan to accuse Michael:

Problem #1: One more time for good measure: He was shot in the back. There is literally no way Drew saw who shot him unless he was staring into a mirror at the exact moment the trigger was pulled. And even then, he’d have seen a silhouette at best. Any halfway decent defense attorney—and Michael can afford the BEST attorneys—will tear this testimony apart in about 30 seconds.

Problem #2: It’s perjury. Martin Gray, Drew’s own lawyer, explicitly warned him that lying under oath about who shot him would be a crime. Drew responded by basically saying “all bets are off” when it comes to implicating Michael. So we’re adding “willing to commit perjury” to Drew’s growing list of crimes, which already includes blackmail, manipulation, and being generally terrible.

Problem #3: Drew has ZERO credibility. At this point, Drew has made enemies with literally everyone in Port Charles. Carly Spencer (Laura Wright) hates him. Sonny hates him. Dante Falconeri (Dominic Zamprogna) is suspicious of him. Even Curtis Ashford (Donnell Turner), Drew’s former best friend, wants nothing to do with him anymore.

When Anna asked Dante how many people wanted Drew dead, his response was perfect: “That’s a long list.” So if Drew suddenly “remembers” that Michael shot him, the immediate response from law enforcement is going to be: “Sure, Jan.”

The Real Suspects

While Drew is busy plotting to frame Michael, let’s talk about who ACTUALLY might have shot him. Because the list of suspects is longer than a CVS receipt, and Michael is honestly not even at the top.

Willow Tait: The gun was found in her house. She was soaking wet after the shooting (it was raining). She has motive—Drew manipulated her, betrayed her, and cost her custody of her children. But would Willow actually shoot someone? That’s the question.

Nina Reeves (Cynthia Watros): Nina hates Drew for what he did to her daughter. She’s already proven she’s willing to do extreme things to stop him (hello, Ketamine incident with sex worker Jacinda). Could she have snapped and pulled the trigger?

Jenz Sidwell: In a Soap Opera Digest poll, 27% of fans believe Sidwell is the shooter. Drew became a liability to Sidwell’s criminal enterprise, and Sidwell is absolutely the type to eliminate loose ends with extreme prejudice.

Michael Corinthos: Yes, Michael is on the suspect list. He has motive (revenge for what Drew did to Willow and the custody situation). He has opportunity (he was in Port Charles when it happened). But here’s the thing: If Michael wanted Drew dead, Drew would BE dead. Michael is a Corinthos—when they want someone gone, that person doesn’t survive two bullets and make a miraculous recovery.

Someone Else Entirely: In that same Soap Opera Digest poll, 27% of fans voted for “Someone Else,” which tells you everything you need to know about how invested viewers are in this mystery. When more people vote for “literally anyone” than for any named character, you know the storyline isn’t landing.

Why Fans Don’t Care Who Shot Drew

Here’s the uncomfortable truth that General Hospital needs to face: Nobody actually cares who shot Drew because Drew is universally despised. The mystery should be compelling—a congressman shot in his own home! A list of suspects a mile long! Shocking revelations about corruption and betrayal!

But it’s falling flat because viewers are actively rooting AGAINST Drew. They don’t want justice for him. They want whoever shot him to get away with it.

Drew spent months:

The man is a VILLAIN. A well-acted, compelling villain (Cameron Mathison is doing great work here), but a villain nonetheless. So when he got shot, the general reaction from fans was basically: “Meh”.

What Happens Next?

According to spoilers, Drew is going “on the warpath” this week. He’s determined to take Michael down whether he actually shot him or not. Drew believes his theory about Michael orchestrating everything, and he’s willing to commit perjury to make it stick.

But here’s the thing: Michael has Dante in his corner. He has Carly in his corner. He has the entire Corinthos organization in his corner. And most importantly, he probably has the TRUTH in his corner—because all evidence suggests Michael didn’t actually do this.

Meanwhile, Willow is sitting in Pentonville after Nina recanted her alibi statement. Nina originally lied and said she and Willow were together when Drew was shot, providing her daughter with an alibi. But in a shocking courtroom twist, Nina took back that statement and pleaded something else entirely (the spoilers are vague on this point, but it’s clearly bad news for Willow).

So now Willow is behind bars, Drew is plotting his revenge, and Michael is about to be accused of attempted murder based on the testimony of a man who COULD NOT HAVE SEEN WHO SHOT HIM.

Peak Port Charles, honestly.

The Bottom Line

Drew Cain getting shot should have been the most dramatic storyline of the fall. Instead, it’s become a tedious “whodunit” where nobody actually cares about the “who” or the “dunit”. Fans are too busy celebrating the fact that Drew got what was coming to him to worry about justice being served.

And now Drew wants to lie and claim Michael was the shooter—ostensibly to protect Willow, but realistically to destroy his enemy. It’s manipulative. It’s illegal. It’s probably not going to work.

But it’s definitely going to make for some explosive drama in the coming weeks.

General Hospital airs weekdays on ABC and streams on Hulu. Tune in to watch Drew’s revenge plot unfold—and to see if anyone actually believes his lies about Michael.
