General Hospital' Recap Friday, September 26: Drew Crashes Memorial, Gio Acknowledges Quartermaine Roots, Tracy Finds A Trespasser

General Hospital recaps for Friday, September 26, reveal Drew Cain (Cameron Mathison) darkened the door of All Saints’ Church, crashing Monica Quartermaine’s (Leslie Charleson) funeral.

Plus, Gio Palmieri (Giovanni Mazza) acknowledged his Quartermaine heritage, Tracy Quartermaine (Jane Elliot) found a trespasser, and more.

Drew Cain Darkens The Door Of All Saints’ Church

As Monica’s memorial service came to an end, Michael Corinthos (Rory Gibson) invited everyone present to return to “Monica’s house” and inquired if anyone else wished to share a few words.

The Quartermaines turned their gaze towards Tracy, who simply shook her head. Suddenly, the church doors swung open, and in rolled Drew!

The congregation gasped as Drew maneuvered his wheelchair to the front and proclaimed, “My name is Drew Quartermaine, and I am here to pay tribute to my mother, Monica.”

Jason Morgan (Steve Burton) leaped up to stop his twin, but Tracy intervened instead, much to the delight of the legitimate guests. She scoffed and gave a fact check, that Drew’s surname was Cain, stating that he had no connection to Monica and was not invited to the memorial service.  (Make sure to check out our weekly GH spoilers, here!)

Drew Gets The Bum’s Rush

Fuming with anger, Drew muttered that Monica viewed him as a son, thus he belonged there. However, Tracy retorted that he had lost that privilege when he shattered Monica’s heart — and to the amusement of onlookers, she pushed him out of the church!

She gave the disenfranchised Drew the bum’s rush, as she told him, “You are not needed here, nor are you welcomed. In fact, you are loathed,” she hissed once they were in the foyer, leaving him in front of the guest book.

“That was satisfying,” Tracy gushed as she made her way back into the church, locking the doors to the chapel.

Tracy Quartermaine Headed To The Podium

GH recaps for Friday, September 26 reveal that Tracy felt sad as she admitted she should probably “say something nice about my sister-in-law,” but she had been trying to avoid it; with Jason’s encouraging nod, Tracy approached the pulpit.

“Okay,” she whispered, her voice gaining strength as she went on, “But I’m going to try, because I know if I don’t, I’ll regret it, because…because…” she paused, struggling with her words.

Taking a deep breath, Tracy opened her arms and said with a smile, “Monica means a lot to me.” Reflecting on their complicated past and how she first thought Monica was not good enough for the Quartermaines, Tracy remembered that Monica could hold her own.

“And somewhere in the midst of our epic battles, I came to respect her-in fact, that respect turned into love.”

Tracy’s Beautiful Eulogy

As Tracy spoke with deep emotion about the love Monica had for her family, many people in the church wiped tears from their eyes. Brook Lynn Quartermaine Chase (Amanda Setton) and Gio exchanged a glance across the aisle.

“My brother made her my sister-in-law, but she became my sister;” turning to Monica’s portrait, Tracy struggled to hold back tears as she finished her speech.

“So, my sister, it seems I’m the last one left; but don’t you worry: That house is yours,” she declared, prompting laughter from the group.

“Alan (Quartermaine, played by Stuart Damon) left it to you, and as long as I’m here, I promise you, it will remain that way,” Tracy promised.

Martin & Drew’s Chat

At the hospital, Martin Grey (Michael E. Knight) was surprised to see Drew return so quickly. Drew complained about how much had changed since Monica was with him when his son Oscar Nero (Garren Lake Stitt) passed away.

Martin noted that the family was upset about Drew’s involvement in Michael and Willow Tait’s (Katelyn MacMullen) breakup. Drew grumbled that the Qs thrive on conflict.

He added that being publicly rejected showed that he was not seen as a real family member and likely never would be. Drew said that his wish to keep Monica safe was the only reason he hadn’t informed the police that Michael was the one who shot him.

Drew Swears Revenge

A skeptical Martin inquired of Drew whether he truly remembered who had shot him. Drew said,  “I can’t remember anything whatsoever.

However, the police don’t need to uncover that information,” Drew retorted, vowing to do whatever necessary to ensure Michael pays for everything he had lost.

Martin noted that Drew’s fury was misplaced, as it was Tracy who pressured him to change his name, but Drew maintained that Tracy should also be held accountable.

Drew was bound and determined to get revenge on Tracy and Michael, who he blamed for ruining his relationship with Monica.

Laura Collins Arrives At The Reception

As Laura Collins (Genie Francis) arrived at the Quartermaines’ reception, she playfully quipped to Tracy that Monica likely enjoyed witnessing the way she had thrown Drew out of the church.

Laura had also spoken kind words in remembrance of Monica at the memorial, as had Lucy Coe (Lynn Herring) as well. Brook Lynn admitted to Dante Falconeri (Dominic Zamprogna) that she wasn’t quite ready to forgive her mother, but she acknowledged that Lois Cerullo (Rena Sofer) had been immensely helpful.

She had  located Tracy at the casino the previous night. The two of them also concurred that it was heartening to see Gio at the memorial service, even though he still harbored anger towards them.

More On Monica’s Memorial Reception

On the patio, Jason opened up to Lulu Spencer (Alexa Havins Bruening) about his feelings of social exhaustion, yet he planned to stay due to all the occasions he had missed.

Lulu reassured Jason that despite his absence from the house, Monica always ensured his spirit was present. Soon after, Laura came outside to join her daughter and stated that Monica had made her a better person.

Lulu wrapped her arms around her mother as the mayor wept over how deeply she missed her friend. Laura had known Monica ever since she was a candy striper at GH, and Monica was still married to Jeff Webber (most recently William R. Moses).

Gio Palmieri Acknowledges His Quartermaine Roots

Elsewhere in the house, Michael expressed his gratitude to Dante and Harrison Chase (Josh Swickard)  for temporarily halting the Drew investigation to support the family.

In the meanwhile Tracy confided in Stella Henry (Vernee Watson) about her feelings of abandonment by her loved ones. Just as Stella was reassuring Tracy that she is enveloped by a wonderfully eccentric family that loves her, Gio made his entrance.

Tracy felt a wave of emotion when Gio revealed that the memorial had provided him with a fresh outlook on his circumstances. He told Tracy  witnessing the unity of the Qs filled him with pride to be part of the family and her great-grandson.

After giving the staff a day off, Olivia Quartermaine (Lisa LoCicero) took charge of the kitchen, preparing all of Monica’s favorite dishes. When word spread that Gio had arrived, Olivia assured Dante that his son’s presence was a positive development.

Dante approached his son in the living room with some hesitation, but sensing that one of his parents wanted to talk, Gio quickly expressed his condolences to Ned Quartermaine (Wally Kurth).

When Ned mentioned that he would love to catch up sometime if Gio was interested, Gio seized the opportunity to discuss their mutual love for music with his grandfather.

The Quartermaines Share Memories Of Monica

From the other side of the room, GH recaps for the September 26 episode note that Brook Lynn beamed when she saw her son and father sharing a laugh.

Later on, Gio entered the kitchen where Ned, Olivia, Michael, and Jason entertained him with tales about Monica. Brook Lynn felt a pang of disappointment as Gio exited without engaging in any significant conversation with her.

Still, Chase reassured his wife that simply having Gio present was a small victory. Meanwhile, Tracy stood alone in the foyer, glancing at the array of framed family pictures on the console table before quietly slipping out the front door.

Tracy was headed to the Quartermaine crypt.

The Family Gathers To Toast Monica’s Memory

Once all the guests had departed, Ned, Olivia, Brook Lynn, Chase, Michael, and Jason came together in the living room to celebrate Monica’s memory.

Meanwhile, Jason quietly slipped out into the foyer with his drink to say a heartfelt farewell to his mother on the staircase, tears brimming in his eyes.

After a montage showcasing Monica and Charleson over the years, Laura, Stella, Felicia Scorpio (Kristina Wagner), Portia Robinson (Brook Kerr), and Elizabeth Baldwin (Rebecca Herbst) congregated at the GH Memorial Wall.

There, they put  Dr. Quartermaine’s portrait. “You put in so much effort. Now it’s time to rest,” Laura expressed to her beloved friend.

Tracy Finds A Trespasser

As Tracy approached the Quartermaine crypt, she was taken aback to find the door slightly open. She stepped into the mausoleum and immediately confronted the woman present. “Who are you, and what are you doing here”-accusing her of trespassing.

The woman, Erika Slezak, making her debut on GH as Veronica Bard, turned to face her and said, “You must be Tracy Quartermaine.”

She introduced  herself as someone who had been anticipating this meeting for quite some time, and will claim to be Monica’s long lost sister.
