DAYS FANS EXPLODE: JJ FORGIVES GABI’S TORTURE BUT CONDEMNS CAT’S DESPERATE LIE?!

TL;DR: Days of Our Lives fans are calling out JJ Deveraux’s shocking hypocrisy—he’s pursuing Gabi Hernandez who tortured Abigail and tried to kill Julie, while condemning Cat Greene who was forced to impersonate Abigail to save her mother’s life.

Hold up. HOLD UP! We need to talk about the elephant in Salem’s living room because I’m about to lose my mind over this one. JJ Deveraux is out here playing moral judge and jury with Cat Greene, calling her “irredeemable” for impersonating his dead sister. Meanwhile—and this is where it gets WILD—he’s actively trying to romance Gabi Hernandez?!

The same Gabi who literally tortured Abigail?

The same Gabi who tried to MURDER Aunt Julie with a pacemaker app?!

Somebody make this make sense because I sure can’t!

What Did Gabi Actually Do to Abigail?

Let’s refresh everyone’s memory, shall we? Because apparently JJ has selective amnesia about what Gabi did to his beloved sister.

Back in 2018, Gabi orchestrated one of the most twisted revenge plots in Salem history. She didn’t just hurt Abigail—she systematically destroyed her life from the inside out. First up? The paternity fraud. When Abigail got pregnant and wasn’t sure if Chad DiMera or Stefan DiMera was the father, Gabi intercepted those test results. She KNEW Chad was baby Charlotte’s real father but switched the results to name Stefan instead.

But wait, there’s more!

Gabi then gaslit her supposed “best friend” so badly that Abigail’s DID came roaring back. Those alter personalities—”Gabby” and “Dr. Laura”—emerged because of the psychological torture Gabi inflicted. The end game? Getting Abigail institutionalized and stealing her entire life.

And get this—Gabi actually visited Abigail in the mental hospital. Not to apologize. Not to help. But to TAUNT her about how well her evil plan worked! She even drugged Abigail’s tea during a fake reconciliation attempt. This wasn’t just revenge; this was sadistic enjoyment of another person’s suffering.

Remember When Gabi Tried to Kill Julie?

Oh, but Gabi’s reign of terror didn’t stop with Abigail.

Remember that absolutely INSANE storyline from 2019-2020? Julie WilliamsJJ’s great-aunt and Horton family matriarch—got Stefan DiMera’s heart after he died. Gabi discovered she could control Julie’s pacemaker with a phone app. A PHONE APP, people!

She weaponized this knowledge to blackmail Lani Price, threatening to stop Julie’s heart unless Lani dumped Eli Grant at the altar. When the truth came out at Gabi and Eli’s wedding? Gabi literally tried to murder Julie on the spot! She was seconds away from using that app to kill a beloved family member. Only JJ’s quick thinking—getting Julie a new, secure pacemaker beforehand—saved her life.

But sure, JJ. This is totally forgivable behavior from your new love interest.

What’s Cat’s “Unforgivable” Crime?

Now let’s talk about Cat Greene and her supposedly “irredeemable” actions. Cat impersonated Abigail after she died. Yes, it was cruel to Chad. Yes, it reopened terrible wounds for the family.

But here’s the thing…

Cat was being FORCED to do this by Clyde Weston—the actual murderer of Abigail! He was holding Cat’s mother, Catherina, hostage. This wasn’t some voluntary scheme for money or revenge. This was a desperate woman trying to save her mother’s life from a killer!

The backstory makes it even more tragic. Cat used to work for the ISA investigating Clyde’s criminal empire. When her investigation was exposed, Clyde murdered her father and kidnapped her mother. She’d already lost one parent to this monster—can you blame her for doing whatever it took to save the other?

Steve and Kayla Johnson eventually exposed the truth, and yeah, Chad had to grieve Abigail all over again. That’s heartbreaking. But Cat didn’t set out to hurt anyone. She was a victim too, caught between impossible choices.

Why Is JJ’s Double Standard So Infuriating?

This is what’s driving fans absolutely BONKERS about this storyline!

Gabi’s crimes were:

Cat’s crime was:

Yet somehow, in JJ’s twisted logic, Cat is the unforgivable one?!

What’s Really Going On Here?

Look, we all know the real tea here. Casey Moss (JJ) and Cherie Jimenez (Gabi) apparently have such amazing on-screen chemistry that the writers extended Casey’s return just to explore this pairing. Jimenez herself said, “I can see why people like us so much together. I like it too.”

Fine. Chemistry is chemistry. But could the writers at least TRY to make this make sense?!

Some fans are theorizing that JJ sees Gabi’s crimes differently because they happened when Abigail was alive—like they were battles between living people that are now in the past. Meanwhile, Cat’s impersonation feels like a desecration of Abigail’s memory, which hits different for someone grieving.

But come ON! That’s some serious mental gymnastics to justify forgiving attempted murder while condemning desperate survival!

What’s Next for This Messy Triangle?

Don’t be surprised if this double standard becomes a major plot point going forward. JJ recently apologized to Gabi for wrongly accusing her of another crime, showing he’s willing to move past their history. But his stance on Cat remains rock solid—he will “never ever forgive her.”

Given Salem’s track record, this probably means Cat and JJ are destined to fall madly in love by February sweeps. (You know how this show works!)

Reading between the lines here, I’m betting Cat’s going to do something heroic that forces JJ to reevaluate his harsh judgment. Maybe she’ll save Julie’s life? Or protect another Horton family member? Something that makes JJ realize his hypocrisy.

Meanwhile, the JJ/Gabi romance will probably implode spectacularly when he’s forced to confront what she actually did to his family. Could this mean we’re heading for a JJ/Gabi/Cat triangle? The writers do love their triangles…

The bottom line? JJ’s moral compass is completely broken right now, and fans are NOT having it. This storyline is either brilliant commentary on grief and forgiveness, or it’s the writers hoping we all have collective amnesia about Gabi’s crimes.

Either way, we’re all watching this train wreck unfold!

What do YOU think about JJ’s shocking double standard? Are you #TeamGabi or #TeamCat? Or are you just sitting here like me, wondering if JJ needs an emergency therapy session with Marlena?
