On the September 4 episode of Days of our Lives, Johnny told Chanel that he’s accepted the job of film professor at Salem U. Earlier, Holly griped that evil Sophia is so obsessed with Tate, she signed up for his film class just to be near him (couldn’t possibly be because she wanted an easy class, same as everyone else). Ari pointed out that Holly could take it, too. (Nice to know who the smart one is in that friends group.) So what can we expect from Professor Johnny… and the film studies gang?
Professor Johnny’s Complicated Classroom
Johnny (Carson Boatman) is barely older than the students who signed up for his class. This can lead to a dynamic where he’s their pal and offers helpful life advice. Not that he’s particularly good at managing his own life.
He can counsel Holly (Ashley Puzemis) about her boy troubles with Tate (Leo Howard). But what if that leads to Holly switching the subject of her ardor from Tate… to Johnny? What if Holly becomes Hot for Teacher? (They’re not related, as opposed to Ari [Marrisa Reyes], who is Johnny’s niece.)
Tate won’t like that at all. And he’s a hothead. He could go off half-cocked and challenge Johnny to a duel… Gen Z style. It will be TikToks at dawn! He could decide to ruin Johnny’s life the way the young people do… by getting him cancelled.
Chanel Considers Adoption in Salem
Chanel (Raven Bowens) was intrigued when she found out the abandoned baby Javi (Al Calderon) had found was now available for adoption. What if she and Johnny end up adopting Tesoro? And Johnny brings his new little bundle of joy to class, where Sophia (Rachel Boyd) is enrolled?
There’s got to be a reason for Johnny to be so close to the young people of Salem. There are definitely story possibilities here!
