Chicago P.D. spoilers and updates reveal what’s ahead this fall; Dick Wolf’s first responder series have been a success since the debut of Chicago Fire in 2012. It was followed by Chicago P.D. in 2014, and then Chicago Med in 2015; as of 2025, these shows remain some of NBC’s favorites.
Last Season Ended With A Murder
Here’s what to look forward to when Chicago P.D. returns on Wednesday nights. Last season’s intense plot reached a peak with Sgt. Hank Voight (Jason Beghe) orchestrating the murder of corrupt deputy chief Charlie Reid (Shawn Hatosy). This was after Reid had dismantled Voight’s Intelligence Unit and placed them under scrutiny.
As the 13th season begins, the team is dispersed, and Voight has been reassigned to the Rapid Response squad. They are facing the fallout and trying to figure out how to resolve the situation while adhering to the rules,” says showrunner Gwen Sigan.
Voight’s Team Relies On Him
“His team relies on him,” Beghe states; “He’s the link to the higher authorities.” Sadly, ASA (Assistant State Attorney) Nina Chapman (Sara Bues) has left him following a heated dispute where she expressed her desire for more than just friendship. “His unit,” Beghe notes, “is everything he has left now.”
His team is struggling; Kim Burgess (Marina Squerciati) grieves the loss of her detective badge and the job she worked so hard to achieve, according to Sigan. Former officer Dante Torres (Benjamin Levy Aguilar), who also lost his badge, is in turmoil and looking for something to ground him.
Voight Will Get A New Partner
Meanwhile, Officer Kevin Atwater (LaRoyce Hawkins) is on a journey of self-discovery in an exciting episode, Sigan shares. And Voight will get a new partner named Eva Imani (Arienne Mandi) who has experience having worked with private military contractors all around the world.
The Chicago Police Department has sent her to the Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms division as a very experienced undercover agent. “Imani is strong, defiant, and not exactly a team player,” the actress states.
Beghe Describes Imani As A Young Female Version Of Voight
“Imani is strong, defiant, and not exactly a team player,” the actress states. Beghe likens Imani to “a young female version of Voight.” Mandi adds, “Even though we don’t always agree, we share a common goal: to catch the bad guy, even if it means bending the rules.”
For Voight, as violent crime rates rise, rebuilding the Intelligence unit “gives him a sense of purpose,” Beghe explains. “He truly believes that his team can make the city safer-” Chicago PD debuts on Wednesday, October 1, at 8/7c on NBC and is available for streaming on Peacock.
