Beyond The Gates spoilers and updates tease Days of Our Lives and General Hospital alumni Greg Vaughan has joined the CBS soap in a mystery role.
Some see a resemblance between him and a younger actor on the BTG canvas, might he be playing Derek Baldwin’s (Ben Gavin) father?
Derek And Ashley Morgan Have Just Reconciled, Albeit Derek’s Hiding A Secret
Derek and Ashley Morgan (Jen Jacob) have just reconciled, albeit Derek’s hiding a secret-he’s continuing to partly fake his paralysis, feeling some sensation in his legs.
However, he doesn’t want to get her all excited that he’ll regain his full function, when all he’s feeling is “sensations”…he still is in a wheelchair.
It makes no difference to Ashley, the nurse still loves him after being broken up for several months; she’s even accepted his ugly orange chair!
But Ashley accepted Derek’s ring, even though he couldn’t give to her like he planned. He’d tried to grab it from where it fell, but she spotted it and accepted it gladly.
It Makes Sense For Derek’s Father To Move To Be Close To His Son
There may be a wedding in Derek and Ashley’s future, so it make sense for his father to move to be close to his son-or perhaps, even if a wedding doesn’t materialize.
Mr. Baldwin Senior could come to a wedding and decide to stay in town-and he could also turn out to be a doctor, getting a job at the hospital.
Or, considering Derek is a fireman, he could be in a public service career-perhaps even being a cop who joins the police force! There seems to be a dearth of honest cops, several answering to Joey Armstrong (Jon Lindstrom).
Perhaps Greg Vaughan’s character will not only be Derek’s father, but Joey’s intimidator, a Serpico like cop whose mission is to root out corruption in the police force.
Greg Vaughan Has Always Played Flawed Good Guys
Greg has always played flawed good guys, like an addicted Lucky Spencer on GH and alcoholic priest Eric Brady on DOOL. Maybe this time he’ll play a similar role, maybe not-maybe this time his character will be the opposite of what he’s played in the past.
He’s divulged very little about his mystery role, but considering the “type” and similarities between himself and the younger Ben Gavin, it would be excellent casting to make his character Derek’s father.
Greg has started filming, so we should know in a couple of months, and as the time gets closer, there may be more information released. Perhaps by Thanksgiving or so, the mystery role no longer will be a mystery!
