Beyond the Gates spoilers suggest drama is in the air in the land of Fairmont Crest; however, so is some fresh-smelling pumpkin spice and vanilla lavender! That’s because the air freshener, Febreze, seems to have a recurring role on the CBS soap, and fans have chimed in on social media about it!
Nothing New
Febreze started making appearances on the daytime drama in early spring when Nicole Dupree (Daphnee Duplaix) and Anita Dupree (Tamara Tunie) were setting up for a party, and the two sprayed some scents into the air to “set the vibe” for the event.
With that said, there’s nothing new about product placement in shows or movies. In fact, soaps were originally launched to sell, well, soaps, as Procter & Gamble was one of the first sponsors of daytime drama shows.
Still, these Febreze spots on Beyond the Gates are very obvious. While at first, they were met with a bit of hostility from fans on social media, some viewers have grown to love the guest appearances from the air freshener.
They have become very “campy” and “ham-like”, which are words that many use to describe BTG itself.
Fans On Reddit React
A post on Reddit asked BTG fans their thoughts on the Febreze spots, and here are some of the “positive” reactions:
“If product integrations like this, pay the bills so we can have a show to watch, I’m all for it.”
“I feel the same way I do chuckle when she pulls out the canned carefully to show the label in front.”
“I think it’s become a campy joke to them and us now and they want us to laugh.”
“It’s fabulous. So smart and gets the bills paid”
“Iconic”
“Low key love it. It’s a campy show and the Febreze is so funny!”
Still, some fans are rubbed the wrong way by the Febreze spots:
“Hate it”
“Yet another thing that makes the show seem bottom tier”
“Seriously cringe”
“Cheesy”
