General Hospital (GH) spoilers remind fans that it was around five years ago that actress Emme Rylan exited the land of Port Charles when her character, Lulu Spencer, was taken off canvas due to a coma.
She was on GH from 2013 to 2020, and fans may also recall her stint as Abby Newman-Abbott on The Young and the Restless from 2010 to 2013, as well as on Guiding Light from 2006 to 2009 as Lizzie Spaulding.
While Rylan was disappointed that GH decided to go another route with her Lulu Spencer character by recasting the role to Alexa Havins Bruening in the summer of 2024, it looks like there may be a silver lining to this all.
News has hit that Rylan has landed a role in a new comedy film, “Jacob Beats up Nate”, directed by J. Lee.
The St. Louis Connection
Rylan resides in St. Louis with her family, longtime partner Don Money, and their three children. Interestingly enough, director J. Lee is a St. Louis native.
In late October of this year, Rylan began hinting at a new project on her Instagram, as she shared a number of behind-the-scenes photos of herself, in full make-up and hair done, clearly on a set and ready to film.
Fast forward to November 6, and Rylan shared multiple photos of herself and movie co-stars, with the following caption:
“I had so much fun playing @justinlong’s wife in @jleefilm’s new movie! @lamorne and the entire cast were amazing!”

Of course, actor Justin Long is known to fans from the horror and comedy films he’s worked on, from Dodgeball to He’s Just Not That Into You, Galaxy Quest, and Jeepers Creepers.
Jacob Beats up Nate is a comedy that centers on J. Lee’s real-life experience in high school and dealing with his high school bully during a class reunion. The flick was entirely produced in St. Louis, with an expected release date of next summer, 2026.
