Harmon Will Reprise His Role As Gibbs In The First Hour Of The Doubleheader Event

This is definitely going to elevate the excitement surrounding the NCIS and NCIS: Origins crossover to a whole new level: Mark Harmon is back! He’ll be  reprising his iconic role as Leroy Jethro Gibbs in the initial hour of the two-hourevent.

CBS revealed the thrilling news about Harmon’s special guest appearance on NCIS: Origins during the crossover on Tuesday, October 28.

Mark your calendars for this exhilarating event, which will be broadcast on Veterans Day, Tuesday, November 11, featuring Harmon in the first hour. Please note that the shows will be swapping their usual time slots for this special occasion only.

Harmon Has Not Been Seen On The Flagship Show For A Few Years Now

Mark Harmon was last spotted on screen during the 19th season of NCIS and made a brief appearance in the premiere episode of Origins in 2024.

He holds the position of executive producer for both series and provides narration for each episode of Origins. In a statement, co-showrunners and executive producers David J.

North and Gina Lucita Monreal shared, “Four years ago, Gibbs vanished to Alaska to embrace a life of solitude. We understand how deeply fans have missed seeing Mark and have been curious about Gibbs’ current situation.

Well, on November 11, we are thrilled to announce that Mark Harmon will reprise his role as Leroy Jethro Gibbs in the Origins segment of the NCIS crossover event.

Gibbs Won’t Be By Himself

The showrunners continued, “We don’t want to reveal too much, but let’s just say that Gibbs is no longer by himself.”

Harmon expressed, “I’m really proud of the storytelling that David and Gina are creating on Origins-they keep pushing limits and exploring the characters’ backgrounds more deeply. They approached me with a concept for Gibbs that I found appealing, and it felt like the right moment to reconnect with him- I hope the fans appreciate it.”

The crossover event starts on Origins with young Leroy Jethro Gibbs (Austin Stowell) and the NIS team looking into the small-town death of a naval officer from the ’90s. Then, that case is surprisingly reopened in the present on NCIS.
