PROCEDURAL QUEEN CATHERINE KRESGE JOINS YOUNG AND THE RESTLESS AS DETECTIVE ANNIE STEWART — NOAH NEWMAN’S CASE JUST GOT SERIOUS!
TL;DR: The Young and the Restless has cast Catherine Kresge as Detective Annie Stewart, the LAPD investigator assigned to Noah Newman’s suspicious car accident case. The actress debuts Thursday, November 20, and she’s bringing serious procedural experience from 9-1-1: Lone Star, NCIS: Hawaii, S.W.A.T., Chicago Med, and even General Hospital. This recurring role means Detective Stewart is here to stay, and everyone connected to Noah’s accident is about to get VERY uncomfortable.
The Newman family drama just got official. Y&R has tapped Catherine Kresge to play Detective Annie Stewart, the LAPD cop who’s about to turn Noah Newman’s “accident” into a full-blown criminal investigation. And if you think Nick Newman (Joshua Morrow) and Sharon Rosales (Sharon Case) can just keep poking around Los Angeles asking questions, think again. Detective Stewart arrives Thursday, November 20, and she’s not here for amateur hour.
This is a RECURRING role, which means Kresge isn’t dropping in for one scene. She’s sticking around for multiple episodes, which tells us everything: Noah’s crash wasn’t an accident, there ARE dangerous people involved, and the police are finally taking this seriously.
Catherine Kresge Is NO Stranger To Playing Authority Figures
Here’s where Y&R made a brilliant casting choice. Catherine Kresge has played SO many cops and detectives across procedural shows that she could probably investigate Noah’s case in her sleep. Her resume reads like a procedural greatest hits:
That’s not counting appearances on Lucifer, 9-1-1: Lone Star, House, CSI: Miami, and That ’70s Show. If there’s a procedural on television, Catherine Kresge has probably guest-starred on it. The woman knows how to embody authority, ask uncomfortable questions, and make suspects squirm.
Who IS Catherine Kresge?
Born in San Francisco on a military base, Kresge is the daughter of a Korean immigrant mother and a retired Army Lt. Col. from Buffalo. She moved constantly as a military kid, which explains her versatility. When you grow up adapting to new cities and countries, you learn how to read people — perfect for playing investigators.
Kresge is classically trained with a BFA in Acting from the University of Arizona (Summa Cum Laude) AND a BA in Political Science. Beyond TV, she’s appeared in A Good Day to Die Hard, R.I.P.D., Fantastic Four, and Hello, My Name Is Doris alongside Sally Field. She’s also starred in over 100 commercials for brands like AT&T, Xerox, and Ponds.
If Y&R wanted someone who could immediately command respect as a detective, they couldn’t have picked better.
What Does Detective Annie Stewart Mean For Noah Newman’s Investigation?
Detective Stewart’s arrival changes EVERYTHING. The LAPD doesn’t assign detectives to routine car crashes. She’s there because someone thinks Noah’s accident was intentional. Here’s what that means:
Nick and Sharon need to step back. No more playing detective. If they interfere with an active police investigation, they could make things worse for Noah.
Everyone connected to that night is getting questioned. Sienna Bacall (Tamara Braun), everyone at The Shadow Room, anyone Noah was with — they’re all sitting down with Detective Stewart for uncomfortable questions.
Secrets are coming out. When detectives start digging, people start talking. And when people talk under pressure from a seasoned investigator, the TRUTH emerges.
The recurring nature tells us this investigation drags on with twists, turns, false leads, and shocking revelations about what Noah was really doing in LA.

Detective Annie Stewart Isn’t Messing Around
Mark Thursday, November 20 on your calendar. That’s when Detective Annie Stewart officially takes over Noah’s case. And if you think she’s some pushover cop who takes the Newman family’s word for things, you haven’t seen Catherine Kresge’s work.
This woman plays detectives who ASK THE HARD QUESTIONS. She doesn’t care if you’re a Newman or the most powerful family in Genoa City. If you were near Noah the night of that crash, you’re on Detective Stewart’s suspect list.
Nick and Sharon have been desperate for answers, and now they’re getting them — but they might not LIKE what Detective Stewart discovers. The more she digs, the more dangerous this becomes. And if someone hurt Noah once, what’s stopping them from trying again?
Catherine Kresge Already Has Soap Opera Experience
Fun fact: Kresge isn’t new to daytime! She appeared on All My Children in 2011 and just showed up on General Hospital in 2024 as Dr. Sawyer. She knows how soaps work — the pacing, the drama, how to make every scene count.
With her background in both procedurals and soaps, Kresge is the perfect bridge between Y&R‘s crime storyline and family drama. She can handle interrogation scenes AND emotional moments with the Newmans.
The Young and the Restless just leveled up their Los Angeles storyline in a MAJOR way.
