Apple TV+ is known for its award-winning original movies and shows, and some great new movies and TV shows will arrive on the platform in Otober 2024. Apple TV+ positioned itself as an alternative to services like Netflix by offering exclusive original content not found elsewhere. Unlike other streaming services, the Apple TV+ catalog remains mostly constant, typically only adding original content and rarely adding licensed material, keeping it unique among streaming options. October sees the service adding more originals with new seasons of Shinrking and Curses! and much more.
In June, Apple TV+ removed all the popular licensed movies it previously added as a limited engagement. These additions were unusual because AppleTV+ has very few licensed movies and TV shows, and since August, Apple TV+ remained constant in only producing original content. The biggest September 2024 releases are still available, including the Apple TV+ original series Slow Horses, which is also adding more new episodes weekly through October 2.

Shrinking, Curses!, Where's Wanda, & More
Where's Wanda? Season 1
Where's Wanda is a German-language dark comedy that follows a couple whose daughter disappears. Dedo (Alex Stein) and Carlotta (Heike Makatsch) set out to do anything they can to find their daughter Wanda (Lea Drinda) after her disappearance. The 17-year-old Wanda went missing months earlier without a trace, and the couple does everything — no matter how illegal — to find out where their daughter is, including finding ways to search the homes of everyone in their town.
The series has a slight Little Red Riding Hood feel to it, as Wanda was wearing a red pancho that was left behind when she disappeared, and there are other hints that something is amiss. When her parents start investigating everyone in their small town, they quickly realize everyone has hidden secrets behind closed doors, some worse than others. The series drops on Apple TV+ on October 2 and will feature five episodes. There is also an English-dubbed version of the series.
Curses! Season 2
The first season saw the family return stolen artifacts to their rightful place. However, the second season of Curses! sees the family still hard at work trying to correct the mistakes of their ancestors, as there are still plenty of stolen artifacts they have to return across the globe. However, something about Alex doesn't seem right since his return, forcing them to solve that mystery while still trying to end the curse once and for all. Season 2 premieres on October 4 and will have 10 episodes.
Disclaimer
Alfonso Cuarón (Gravity, Roma) has a new miniseries coming to Apple TV+ in October 2024 with Cate Blanchett in the lead role. In the miniseries Disclaimer, Blanchett stars as a decorated television documentary journalist named Catherine Ravenscroft, who has built a long career by exposing the bad deeds of various respected institutions. However, when her own past transgressions are brought to the surface, they threaten to ruin everything she has built over the years.
Kevin Kline stars in the movie as a retired private school teacher, Stephen Brigstocke, who has written a novel with Catherine as the prominent character, exposing her dark secrets, one she now has to confront after hiding them for years. Based on the best-selling novel by Renée Knight, Cuarón directed all eight episodes of the miniseries, and Blanchett is already gaining award recognition for her performance.
The Last Of The Sea Women
The Last of the Sea Women is a documentary film by Sue Kim about the Haenyeo, a community of free-diving women in Jeju, South Korea. The women of this area have been harvesting seafood for their communities for decades. It is a dangerous job, but it remains a tradition, albeit one that threatens to become endangered thanks to its inherent dangers. These women can't get health insurance, but their work provides them with a very good income and high praise from their communities.
Shrinking
Harrison Ford and Jason Segel are back with the second season of the comedy-drama series Shrinking, an Apple TV+ original series created by Bill Lawrence (Scrubs, Ted Lasso). The series follows therapist Jimmy Laird (Segel) as he deals with grief after his wife's death. At a breaking point, he breaches ethical boundaries when he starts to tell his clients what he really thinks, which starts to change everyone's lives.
Harrison Ford plays Dr. Paul Rhoades, a senior therapist who has Parkinson's disease. Seaason 1 was a massive success, with two Primetime Emmy Awards nominations, including one for Segel and one for Jessica Williams, who plays Gaby, a fellow therapist. The second season sees Jimmy trying to keep himself from slipping back into the depression he had when his wife died, but things are not always easy for him. The new season will have 12 episodes, with the finale coming to Apple TV+ on Christmas Day.
