Rachel Black’s Memory Sparks Terror on Days of Our Lives: Will She Confess to Shooting EJ Or Keep Playing Innocent?

By Steven Davis 10/25/2025

IS RACHEL BLACK LYING ABOUT HER MEMORY ON DAYS OF OUR LIVES OR DOES SHE REALLY NOT REMEMBER

TL;DR: Rachel Black (Alice Halsey) has a memory flash that leaves Marlena Evans (Deidre Hall) deeply worried about her granddaughter’s safety and mental state. The big secret? Rachel is the one who shot EJ DiMera (Dan Feuerriegel), but she’s blocked out the traumatic memory. Or has she? As Rachel’s memories start resurfacing, the question becomes: Will she finally confess to pulling the trigger, or will she continue playing the innocent victim while Johnny DiMera (Carson Boatman) takes the fall?

The Night Everything Changed

Let’s set the scene: EJ nearly lost his life after being shot, and everyone assumed Johnny was the shooter. But leaked spoilers from months ago pointed at Rachel as the real culprit, and recent episodes have basically confirmed it. Rachel picked up the gun and fired at her own uncle after Johnny had already left that night.

Why would Rachel Black shoot EJ? Because she was FURIOUS with him for getting rid of her grandmother Rachel Blake (Roslyn Gentle), who could have put EJ away for kidnapping Rafe Hernandez (Galen Gearing) and Ava Vitali (Tamara Braun). In Rachel’s mind, EJ destroyed her family. So she destroyed him right back.

Complicating matters? Rachel’s brain decided to protect her from this traumatic memory by completely blocking it out. She genuinely cannot remember anything past Johnny pointing a gun at EJ. At least that’s the word on the streets.

Is Rachel Really Clueless—Or Just a Really Good Liar?

Here’s where things get psychologically fascinating: Marlena has been gently trying to get Rachel to remember what happened that night. But Rachel keeps insisting she’s completely clueless, traumatized, and totally sad about the whole situation. She’s playing the innocent victim card HARD.

But some Days fans are starting to wonder: What if Rachel Black actually DOES remember shooting EJ and is just pretending she doesn’t? Because let’s be real, here. This is the same girl who has lied about everything from her snake escaping its terrarium to her role in Ava’s kidnapping and attempted murder. Rachel’s track record with honesty is… not great. And that’s the understatement of the decade.

Kristen DiMera (Stacy Haiduk) has been absolutely AMAZING throughout this storyline, basically teaching Rachel that she’s such a sweet, sensible, guileless girl who needs protection and should never be challenged about her behavior. Thanks for that stellar parenting, Kristen! Clap. Clap.

Marlena’s Growing Concern

This week, Rachel’s memory has a spark that leaves Marlena genuinely worried about her granddaughter. Doc knows the danger of letting repressed memories fester. They can cause serious psychological damage. But she also knows that if Rachel suddenly remembers shooting EJ, the fallout will upend the lives of everyone she’s close to.

Marlena may be worried that a flood of memories could follow, connecting all the EJ shooter dots for Rachel in one overwhelming rush. And if that happens, will Rachel break down and confess? Or will she double down on her lies and let Johnny continue taking the blame?

Rachel Black’s Behavior Gets Worse

Spoilers indicate that Rachel’s behavior will get worse before it gets better. She’s been scheming with Thomas DiMera (Cary Christopher) and leading him down a shady path as well. Because apparently shooting your uncle wasn’t enough chaos for one pre-teen. Now, she’s recruiting accomplices!

Rachel has also been acting incredibly uncomfortable around EJ, which makes total sense if she’s subconsciously aware that she tried to murder him. The tension between them has been palpable, and only EJ and Marlena know why.

The Halloween Wild Card

Here’s where things could get REALLY dramatic: Halloween is coming up, and spoilers suggest the week of October 27-31 could bring even more memories flooding back for Rachel. Halloween tends to be traumatic on Days of Our Lives anyway (there’s literally an armed lunatic in the town square who nearly stabs Cat Greene), so it’s the perfect time for Rachel’s repressed memories to come crashing back.

Will the spooky atmosphere trigger Rachel’s trauma? Will she finally break down and confess to Marlena? Or will she continue playing innocent while her guilt eats her alive from the inside?

The Bigger Picture: What Happens When the Truth Comes Out?

Let’s say Rachel does remember and confess to shooting EJ. What then? She’s a minor who was traumatized by her uncle’s actions against her grandmother. The legal and emotional fallout would be MASSIVE:

Johnny would finally be cleared of attempted murder charges
Kristen would have to face that her parenting resulted in a child capable of attempted murder
Brady Black (Eric Martsolf) would be devastated that his daughter tried to kill someone
EJ would have to decide whether to press charges against his own niece
The entire DiMera family would be torn apart. One more time!

The Bottom Line

Marlena’s concern about Rachel’s resurfacing memory is completely justified. Whether Rachel genuinely blocked out the shooting or is just playing everyone with Oscar-worthy acting, the truth is going to come out eventually.

The question is: Will Rachel finally confess and face the consequences of her actions? Or will she keep manipulating everyone around her and let Johnny take the fall while she plays the traumatized victim?

Either way, when Rachel’s memory fully returns, Salem is going to need some serious family therapy. Dr. Phil? You may want to hop on the next bus to Salem.
