General Hospital (GH) spoilers suggest that, as per the Friday, October 17, 2025, episode closing credits, Jens Austin Astrup, who plays Kai Taylor, is officially off contract on the ABC soap. More details on this developing story, below.
What Does This Mean For Kai Taylor?
General Hospital spoilers note that Kai Taylor is wrapped in a pretty intense storyline on the soap right now, romantically linked to young leading lady, Trina Robinson (Tabyana Ali). The fact that he’s dropped to recurring status is surprising.
With that said, many actors/actresses are recurring on both GH and other daytime dramas and are still very involved in storylines on their show. This could mean that Kai is on his way out, but it could also very well mean that Kai continues to live his best life in the land of Port Charles.
The Cody Bell Factor
Fans shouldn’t necessarily fret about Astrup being off contract, as Josh Kelly is a fine example of an actor who’s recurring but is still very active on the GH canvas.
In fact, his romance with Molly Lansing-Davis (Kristen Vaganos) is blossoming, and he’s been thrust into another arc that recently involves Molly’s parents, Ric Lansing (Rick Hearst), Alexis Davis (Nancy Lee Grahn), and her sister, Kristina Corinthos-Davis (Kate Mansi) – not to mention Ava Jerome (Maura West). Cody found out about Ava, Kristina, and Alexis keeping Ric hostage – all on the same day Molly tried to plant a kiss on him!
Still, as Kai and Trina’s romance isn’t exactly Sprina-worthy, the move to place Astrup on recurring status could worry some Kai Taylor fans.
Especially since both Kai and Trina were in Drew Cain’s (Cameron Mathison) home the night of his shooting, and Kai’s fingerprints remain all over the bat that he left behind before he and Trina grabbed her mom’s blackmailing documents and headed out. Could Kai land in jail for this? Could he be accused of Drew’s shooting? Only time will tell!
