Are they just putting on a performative appearance again? That’s what a lot of royal fans and critics on both sides of the aisle can’t help but wonder when it comes to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.
Per the Daily Beast, eyewitnesses say that the Duke of Sussex looked very uneasy next to his “relaxed” wife Meghan Markle on the red carpet.

While Meghan looked very happy to be there, it was Harry who apparently looked “spun out” by the press while the two of them were in New York City together.
The couple attended the Project Healthy Minds gala where they picked up the “Humanitarian of the Year” award. The couple were both dressed in black and from the outside in, it did look like they were happy to be there. Or at least, for one short moment.
And while the Duchess of Sussex certainly did look like he was having a good time, Prince Harry looked like he wanted to be anywhere but there at the moment.
But then again, the Duke of Sussex has admitted in the past that these kind of events do make him feel very uneasy, especially knowing that his own mother, Princess Diana, struggled with all of the attention that she was getting from the press, too.

Back in 2019, Harry put it this way in an interview with Tom Bradby in South Africa: “I think being part of this family, in this role, in this job, every single time I see a camera, every single time I hear a click, every single time I see a flash, it takes me straight back. So in that respect it’s the worst reminder of her life as opposed to the best.”
So could Prince Harry have been feeling that same way while he was on the red carpet with Meghan in New York City this week? That’s what it looks like. So far the Duke of Sussex himself has not made any comments about the matter just yet.
