Chicago Fire Spoilers: Here's What's Ahead This FallChicago Fire spoilers and updates reveal what’s ahead for fans this coming fall. Since the debut of Chicago Fire in 2012, Dick Wolf’s One Chicago first responder series have consistently attracted high ratings; as of 2025, they remain some of NBC’s top-rated programs.

Hard times Ahead For Firehouse 51

Here’s what to expect in the upcoming season of Chicago Fire; tough challenges lie ahead for Firehouse 51 as the show reflects the real-life reductions in the Windy City’s fire department.

Showrunner Andrea Newman hints, “There will be a significant impact on all our characters, particularly the medics.”

With several firehouses shutting down, Paramedic-in-Charge Violet Mikami (Hanako Greensmith) will be busy handling all the ambulance calls, alongside her colleague paramedic Lizzy Shaffer (Jocelyn Hudon).

Among those joining the duo to assist the overwhelmed team is the always entertaining Harold Capp from the Rescue Squad (Randy Flagler). Violet will lose her workplace bestie.

Many Changes At The Firehouse

Amid the stress, Violet, whose boyfriend Sam Carver (Jake Lockett) has been on and off, will now lose her best friend at House 51, Darren Ritter (Daniel Kyri).

Ritter will make a return at the beginning of the season for a few episodes before an emotional farewell for this beloved character.

The chaos from the cuts leads Chief Dom Pascal (Dermot Mulroney) to hire a new recruit, Sal Vasquez who left the police academy to become a firefighter. “Sal is skilled at his job and he knows it,” Larracuente shares; “He aims to excel in his role and protect those around him while doing so.”

Expect some playful exchanges with Lt. Stella Kidd (Miranda Rae Mayo), his superior on Truck, and some camaraderie with Lt. Kelly Severide (Taylor Kinney), along with, predictably, some flirtation with ambo’s Novak.

Pascal Lets Severide Take Charge, Hermann And Mouch’s Roles Are Reversed, Leading To Conflict Between Them

With many responsibilities, Pascal mainly lets Severide take charge, making him the unofficial leader of 51 alongside an arson investigator.

Domestic challenges are also approaching as Severide and his wife Kidd get ready to be ‘responsible parents, while they enjoy a job where every action is a matter of life and death.

Ultimately, the dynamic shifts between longtime friends Christopher Herrmann (David Eigenberg) and Randall ‘Mouch’ McHolland (Christian Stolte) who have a role reversal.

This leads  to a conflict after Herrmann gives up his lieutenant position so Mouch, who passed the lieutenant exam, can take the role, and Mouch really gets bossy-fans can imagine some humorous scenes.

Chicago Fire debuts on Wednesday, October 1, at 8/7c on NBC and will be available for streaming on Peacock.
