The funeral of our beloved Dr. Monica Quartermaine kicks off this week on General Hospital, and the ABC soap has reportedly pulled out all the stops to honor the iconic Leslie Charleson.
Soap opera fans were devastated earlier this year when news broke of Leslie Charleson’s death. The GH actress passed away on on January 12, 2025. The 79 year old had experienced multiple health issues in the weeks leading up to her death.
The coroner later listed the Monica Quartermaine portrayer’s death as blunt force trauma to the head, the star had problems getting around her home and had reportedly fallen and injured her head on more than one occasion as her health deteriorated.
General Hospital Says Goodbye To Leslie Charleson
General Hospital spoilers say there won’t be a dry eye in Port Charles this week as Monica Quartermaine’s friends and family gather to say their goodbyes.
The scenes will be extra emotional, because the cast members were all close with Leslie in real life and are still mourning her death.
Leslie Charleson wasn’t just any cast member on the CBS soap, she had spent more years on the soap than any of her co-stars. The actress debuted on GH back in 1977, and was cherished among longtime fans.
In the past, viewers have felt like the soap didn’t give some characters a proper send off. But, fan fave Steve Burton recently reassured fans that this wouldn’t be the case and Leslie Charleson was getting the fanfare she deserves.
Steve Burton Teases Monica’s Funeral
Burton teased in a recent episode of Stone Cold and the Jackal (his podcast with Bradford Anderson), “They’re giving her [Leslie] the proper tribute. What we want, what the fans want and what she deserves.”
