Following Charlie Kirk’s assassination, the creators of South Park chose to pull an episode of the show featuring the conservative activist from linear rotation, even though it still remained on the streaming platform Paramount+.
Now? The executive producer of ‘The Charlie Kirk Show,’ Andrew Kolvet, is calling for it to be restored, claiming that it would be an honor to Kirk’s memory rather than an insult.
Charlie Kirk’s Producer Shares What the Political Activist’s Reaction Would Have Been To ‘South Park’ Pulling the Episode Satirizing Him
Apparently, Kirk was not in the least bit offended by the South Park episode satirizing him. However, after he was sadly assassinated while speaking at a university on Sept. 10, the network behind the adult cartoon decided to pull the Aug. 6 episode mocking his agenda. Titled ‘Got A Nut,’ the episode saw Cartman imitate Kirk’s hairstyle and set up a table to debate students on politics.
“As someone who can speak with some authority on this, Charlie loved that he was featured in ‘South Park,’” Kolvet, a close friend of Kirk, wrote on X. “He told me many times. He would want the episode back up.”
Charlie Kirk’s Reaction To Being Satirized By South Park
I have to say that knowing what Kirk said about his South Park episode may better explain Kolvet’s view on the situation.
Even when the teaser dropped in July, Kirk revealed that he simply brushed it off with a laugh.
“Honestly, my first reaction was that I kinda laughed,” he told Fox News Digital of the show he used to watch in high school.
He further described the show as an “equal opportunity offender,” adding, “It’s kinda funny, and it kinda goes to show the cultural impact and the resonance that our movement has been able to achieve. I look at this as a badge of honor.”
The speaker continued, “We as conservatives need to be able to take a joke. We shouldn’t take ourselves so seriously. That’s something that the left has always done, to great detriment to themselves and the movement. Look, they’re professional comedians. They’re probably going to roast me, and I think that’s fine. That’s what it’s all about, being in public life and making a difference.”
Kirk was apparently so happy with the episode that he changed the profile picture for “The Charlie Kirk Show” on both Instagram and TikTok to a screengrab of Cartman impersonating him.
