In a recent interview, Ahmed shared more about his background and how it influences his work. I have a Master’s in Microbiology/Immunology, so my comics sometimes have a scientific twist, he revealed. He also reflected on how he got started with doodling, inspired by the comics he read in newspapers: I was a shy kid, but I found it much easier to connect with people by showing them my comics. It’s the way I express myself best.

Curious about Ahmed’s creative process? He gave us a glimpse into how he brings his comics to life. Sorry, trade secret. Just kidding For his gag comics, he usually writes down what’s on his mind or jots down ideas on his phone when inspiration strikes. When working on story-driven comics, he uses a notebook filled with sketches, thumbnails, and concepts to plan out his ideas. These days, he mostly works digitally to create his art.

When it comes to what he hopes his audience takes away from his work, Ahmed says, If I’ve made you laugh or brightened your day, then I’ve succeeded as a cartoonist. He also shared a thoughtful reminder. Be kind to people posting their art online. Artists put more than just time and effort into each piece it’s one of the most personal things they can share.
