Katherine Hemmings the UK-based comic artist, has always had a deep love for drawing nurtured from a young age. She remembers how her dad would bring home stacks of paper from work providing her with the perfect opportunity to spend weekends immersed in doodling while the TV played in the background. Growing up in a family that valued art, Katherine was fortunate to be surrounded by inspiration. My sister was studying art and both my parents were really good at it. They were always happy to supply me with as much paper as I could use she recalls fondly. This early encouragement shaped her artistic path and led her to the delightful comics she creates today.

Katherine Hemmings never considered a career in comics until she attended a UK comic convention. There, she met Sarah Graley and Marc Ellerby who were drawing for Rick and Morty. I remember being blown away that people local to me were drawing for such huge IP she recalls. Inspired by their work she left the convention with a clear goal in mind I want to be a comic artist.
About a year later Katherine discovered The Comic Creative Catalyst a course led by industry professional John McCrea. The course focused on the art of storytelling guiding the viewer’s eye with artwork, and collaborating with scripts. Katherine says It was incredibly interesting, and at the end we all worked together to create an anthology of our work from that course. Since then, Katherine has kept creating her own comics in her free time pouring her heart into every project she takes on.
