Justin Hall, the creative force behind JHall Comics, first started blending everyday life with pop culture when he took on the role of full-time illustrator at Dorkly in 2015. Initially focusing on Pokémon-themed comics he expanded his content to include a wide array of pop culture reference drawing from his love of comic book movies, sci-fi TV shows, and more.
As Justin explained, his comics tend to center on themes he’s familiar with saying, I usually focus on topics I am familiar with like the MCU and Pokemon that have plenty of material to use for jokes. This comfort with fandoms like these allows him to create humor that’s both relatable and nostalgic for fans.

Justin Hall’s career has been a blend of creativity, adaptability, and determination. After gaining recognition as an illustrator for CollegeHumor and Dorkly, he faced a major shift in 2020 when Dorkly and CollegeHumor shut down. Instead of slowing down, Justin embraced new opportunities by transitioning to roles in social media management and design eventually landing a position as a writer and designer at Cracked.
But his passion for comics never faded. Today, he’s back at Dorkly, contributing fresh monthly comics, and also lending his artistic talents to Dropout, the VOD platform from the team behind CollegeHumor. Through these ventures, Justin continues to create humor-filled comics that mix pop culture with everyday life.

Social media has been a key element in Justin Hall’s journey to building his personal brand but as with many creators he has observed the changing dynamics of the online world. Social media has played a big role in helping me grow my brand, but recently, I’ve noticed diminishing returns, he explained. Younger audiences aren’t as active on Facebook anymore, and since Musk’s acquisition of Twitte the platform has become increasingly unreliable.
However, Justin is adapting to these shifts. He encourages fans to follow him on Bluesky, where he’s found a new home, using the handle @Jhallcomics. Twitch has also become a great platform for him to connect with his audience. There, he not only shares his art but also engages with fans on a personal level through gaming and interactive conversations.
